Under general supervision, the Healthy Farmers Market Manager coordinates daily operations during market season and will work with the Healthy Farmers Markets Steering Committee to achieve program outcome measures of increasing food security amongst underserved populations in need of access to fresh produce. The vision of the Healthy Farmers M arket is to increase food justice, inspire, nurture and support healthy communities with a mission to build a marketplace that fosters community while offering affordable, fresh food and a variety of community and health resources . The program provides free produce vouchers and fresh-food boxes to households experiencing financial hardship. This position will oversee market staffing and volunteers conducting set-up and tear-down operations. This positions reports to the Health Equity Community Connections Coordinator.
This is a Monday through Thursday, part-time, variable-hour position that requires onsite availability at every market during the market season. A total of 18 outdoor events are incorporated into the working schedule. The position encompasses a total of approximately 480 hours.
Anticipated Start Date: Monday, June 30, 2025
Pre-Season/Training Period: Approximately June 30-July 9. Consists of general City of Thornton, Community Connections, and Health Farmers Markets onboarding tasks.
Market Season: Start date through October 2nd for approximately 20 hours per week. Tuesday and Thursday will be worked at the markets and additional hours will be worked at home base site for market administrative work.
The following dates and times MUST be available*:
Tuesdays: July 29, August 26, September 30, and October 14 from 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Thursdays: July 10-October 2 from Noon - 6:30 p.m.

Post-Market Season: Beginning October 6 through approximately mid-November, job duties will primarily consist of reconciliation of paperwork, compiling market data, writing the 2025 Health Farmers Markets report, and other tasks assigned to close the market season.
Worksite (home base site) location during non-programming market hours will be the Community Connections Office. Programming market locations will be Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center and McAllister Park.
Usage of personal vehicle may be requested for conducting program outreach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Completes set up tasks for market operations, including but not limited to , ensuring tents are up, tables and chairs set up, etc. Transfers equipment and supplies from storage facility to market location .
Oversees the check-in and information booth . Serves as onsite liaison with host site . Serves as on-site point of contact for vendors, volunteers and staff for assigning tasks and support during market hours . Responsible for o nsite vendor and site layout management .
Oversees safety and traffic including, but not limited to, enforcement of vendor policies as they relate to safety and traffic .
Collects participant data and disseminate produce vouchers to eligible participants . Covers logistics and distribution of produce vouchers as needed.
E valuates data dashboard for geographic reach and marketing strategies to adjust efforts to target populations as needed . Analyzes marketing and outreach efforts to continue and increase engagement throughout the course of the season .
Evaluates market strengths and weaknesses to identify process improvement and implement plans for strategic development.
Responds to questions, complaints and concerns from shopper s and vendor s.
Serves as main point-of-contact for emergenc ies including accidents, medical emergencies, safety, or severe weather events .
Completes close-out and tear-down tasks, including, but not limited to, ensuring site safety protocols are followed (locking facilities), and complete site sanitation/maintenance ( e.g. empty trash, etc.).?
Supports budget review and analysis to determine operational costs of the upcoming market season .
Supports community engagement activities .
Assists in market promotion content creation, including social media promotions, newsletter creation, and webpage management.
Assists in creating the end of season report for the 2025 Healthy Farmers Market .
Attends Colorado Farmers Market Association meetings when they occur (during the week, via Zoom). Attends monthly steering committee meetings and alt-weekly steering committee check-in meetings during the season .
Performs other duties as assigned .
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
High school or GED; one year of customer service experience including one year of experience in a directly related field or in p ublic h ealth/ g lobal h ealth and social determinants of health . Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish and English is preferred.
Licensing/Certification Requirements
Ability to travel to various locations in a timely matter.
Certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the city of Thornton and the department .
Knowledge of the general operations and staff of the city of Thornton's various departments and divisions.
Knowledge and interest in local food systems and local procurement .
Knowledge of issues and concerns facing low-income populations, seniors, caregivers, teens, immigrants, and people who are unhoused, unemployed, or underemployed, and their families.
Skill in effective written and verbal communications.
Skill in handling sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
Skill in working with diverse audiences in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner.
Skill in planning and coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating special events and programs.
Ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner .

Ability to attend evening and weekend meetings, as necessary.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, talk, hear and make repetitive motions . This position is mostly light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently . The employee is required to have close visual acuity. The employee is subject to inside and outside conditions .
