Job Description
This is a non-merit, temporary position. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
Only applicants who meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements and meet all selective requirements (listed below) will be placed on the eligible list.
The Department of Revenue is seeking temporary workers to join our Lottery Division as a Visual Basic.Net Website Programmer.
What we are looking for:
A temporary worker to serve as a software developer on assignments that utilize Microsoft Visual Basic.NET and Microsoft T-SQL. You will participate in the development and maintenance of complex software systems so that the business processes done by the customers are automated. This will involve analyzing requests for more complex program and system changes to determine the best solution for the automation need pertaining to the ialottery.com website processing, which may require evaluating alternative methods of program development. You will need to study components of business requests from the customers to determine feasibility of adapting to automation, either within an existing system, or in the development of a new system.
What you will be doing:
This position will work alongside one other software developer and will edit and enhance existing Visual Basic and SQL code in order to configure website content that enables VIP Club promotions and popup contests. You will run SQL to build promotional draw files that will be used to select winners in VIP Club promotions, and make sure that winning numbers, jackpots, and winner list automation works properly on the website. You will also assist with posting Press Releases containing winner information and help support marketing initiatives on the website.
Qualifications we are looking for:
+ Experience utilizing data modeling methods and techniques
+ Knowledge of business process analysis methods and techniques of systems analysis, design and development utilizing a software development lifecycle
+ Knowledge of advanced computer programming methods, techniques, and tools for application development on multiple platforms
+ Ability to apply methods/tools to solve complex information system problems, and ensure accuracy in yours and others’ work
+ Must be able to work as a team member in solving problems and improving service delivery, as well as being able to perform work tasks by working independently
+ Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of responsibility and prepare and present effective written or oral information for both technical and non-technical agency staff and outside customers/vendors
+ Experience developing programs of a high level of complexity
+ Ability to observe and evaluate trends, analyze data, draw logical conclusions and make decisions and recommendations
This is a Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M.- 4:30 P.M. shift.
Applicants will be required to work from the Clive Office. This is not a remote position.
Additional Requirements: Must pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting, and be in compliance with Iowa tax filing requirements and willing to participate in the E-verify process.
Selectives
071 Applications Support:
6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in the installation, repairing, and overseeing of computer hardware/software/or peripheral equipment. This also involves answering user inquiries on computer hardware and software operation.
AND
073 SQL:
6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both using Microsoft SQL toolset within no more than 2 major versions of the current release.
AND
423 VB.Net:
12 semester hours of coursework or 6 months of experience from which the applicant would be able to specifically perform the following:
+ Develop Windows forms based on applications using MicrosoftVB.Net
+ Develop web based applications using Microsoft ASP.Net
+ Use ADO.Net to interact with Microsoft SQL Server and other data bases
+ Develop and manage .Net components in an object oriented environment
AND
199 ASP (Active Server Pages):
6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in this computer language for Internet development
Minimum Qualification Requirements
There are no minimum qualifications as a temporary position.
