    Job Description

    **ORDER OF PREFERENCE:** The selection for Division Clerks and related personnel is made on the basis of fitness and ability with preference given to Division Clerks and related personnel District, System-Wide (L689), Authority-wide and external candidates, respectively.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education

    + High school diploma or possession of a high school equivalency certificate (GED)

    Experience

    + A minimum of two (2) years' experience in the diagnosis, servicing and repair of diesel and automotive vehicles, or related exposure.

    Certification/Licensure

    + Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Parts Specialist Certification

    Medical Group:

    Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.

    Job Summary

    The Senior Auto Parts Specialist establishes the proper identification and work assignments typically performed within the automotive parts acquisitioning function. The employee ensures that work assignments are properly completed and provides technical and administrative support to the maintenance efforts of revenue vehicles.

    Essential Functions

    + Contacts manufacturers, vendors and suppliers to obtain technical specification replacement and/or substitute parts for all revenue equipment.

    + Coordinates with buyers and storeroom personnel to provide technical assistance as required.

    + Ensures that all inventoried tools and parts in stock are accurately maintained and that all materials are procured at the lowest reasonable costs, to include hard to locate or deleted parts.

    + Completes required documentation and reports for the operation and maintenance of Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)vehicles, utilizing proper forms and tags as required by the Authority.

    + Responds to and assists in emergencies such as securing or safeguarding WMATA vehicles and equipment, fire/life/safety, and snow emergencies.

    + Operates Authority vehicles as required.

    + Performs periodic review and analysis of stock data to ensure that adequate, but not excessive, quantities are available for various maintenance efforts.

    + Receives equipment under contract and through direct purchase, manages equipment in the appropriate inventories, and distributes as required.

    Other Functions

    + Maintains and promotes awareness and accountability with safety policies and procedures while performing job functions. Promotes a positive safety culture and encourages reporting of safety concerns consistent with our Agency Safety Plan, other regulatory requirements within the Safety Management System and just culture principles.

    + Review of a current motor vehicle report
