Position Summary

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations and continuous improvement efforts. This individual is a collaborative and proactive team player with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and a keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate is eager to take ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is adaptable to evolving responsibilities and priorities. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of the business, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to contribute independently and as part of a cross-functional team. This position will play a key role in implementing standard costing in 2025. This summary provides a high-level overview and is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Duties

+ Support the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and review of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

+ Manage and maintain accounting procedures related to manufacturing operations, including the development and monitoring of standard labor and overhead rates in support of the company’s standard costing initiative.

+ Oversee the preparation, filing, and compliance of all required tax filings, including but not limited to sales and use tax, property tax, business licenses, and other local regulatory filings.

+ Perform daily review and oversight of accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy and proper coding.

+ Assist with external audits by compiling documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and supporting audit readiness activities.

+ Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and strengthen the accounting function.

Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

+ Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience.

+ Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and standard cost accounting principles.

+ Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems preferred.

+ Solid knowledge of internal controls and compliance standards.

+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

+ Highly detail-oriented, organized, and thorough, with a strong ability to dive deep into complex issues to ensure accuracy and resolution.

+ Collaborative team player with a proactive, can-do attitude.

+ Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

+ Comfortable working across departments, regions, and organizational levels to drive alignment and results.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams, time zones, and cultures.

+ Results-driven, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and delivering measurable outcomes.

At Hirsch, we prioritize pay fairness. Your base salary plays a vital role in our comprehensive compensation structure, and it is established within a specific range. This structure allows for advancement as you gain experience and evolve in your role. Your salary and compensation will be determined based on various factors, including your geographical location, skill set, educational background, and work experience.

In the spirit of transparency regarding compensation, the base salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $100,000.
