    Job Summary:

    The Mortgage Compliance Officer ensures the mortgage lending operations comply with all applicable regulations, including the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act), TRID, and CFPB guidelines. This role oversees compliance with licensing, registration, disclosure requirements. The compliance officer will work closely with department heads, auditors, and regulators to mitigate risk and uphold ethical lending practices.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + SAFE Act Compliance: Ensure all MLOs are properly licensed and registered per NMLS requirements.

    + Maintain records and oversee annual renewals, background checks, and continuing education for MLOs.

    + Implement policies ensuring compliance with RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, and Fair Lending laws.

    + TRID Compliance: Oversee adherence to TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) requirements, ensuring accurate and timely loan estimates and closing disclosures.

    + Ensure compliance with CFPB regulations, including consumer protection laws and fair lending practices.

    + Conduct internal audits to identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.

    + Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors.

    + Develop and lead staff training on mortgage lending laws, including SAFE Act, TRID, and CFPB regulations.

    + Maintain documentation for regulatory examinations and legal inquiries.

    + Stay updated on industry developments and regulatory changes to proactively adjust policies.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or Compliance (or equivalent experience).

    + Certifications: CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) or equivalent is a plus.

    + Experience: Minimum 5 years in mortgage compliance, banking regulation, or risk management.

    + Deep knowledge of SAFE Act, TRID, CFPB guidelines, and mortgage lending regulations.

    + Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
