Job Description:
This position will be responsible for the day-day operation of the UFMSTP across the eight years of a Scholar’s curriculum leading to fulfillment of requirements for MD degree, PhD degree and MSTP goals and milestones. The position will be the main contact person for the UF MSTP Directorate for all Scholars regardless of Medical School or Graduate School year of training. Scholars should be able to rely upon the Coordinator for assistance with any issues they encounter, especially those related to transition between medical and graduate programs. The Coordinator will be knowledgeable of each Scholar’s Individual Development Plan and be able to identify Scholars who have not adhered to it. This position will also facilitate scholar participation in the many UF MSTP activities which serve to integrate research and clinical training. This position will also assist Program Directors with financial information regarding expenditures for student stipends, tuition, travel and UF MSTP Program. This position will interface with the Dual Doctorate Program Committee consisting of other UF HSC Programs which offer dual doctorate degrees, the PhD Program Directors in which the Scholars will be receiving their PhD Degrees, the Biomedical Research Career Development Programs for Professional Skill Building, Science Career Development, and Grant Writing. This position will also coordinate clinical opportunities for Scholars in MS1 & MS2 as well as G1-4 years, including the Clinical Research Practicum, and other clinical experiences. This Coordinator will especially support the activities of the MPI for Scholar Programs.

Academic Functions
+ Assist in developing and implementing UF MSTP Programs which enrich Scholar’s MD or PhD academic curricula, including monthly dinners, fall retreat, and spring symposium and a two week-long new student orientation.
+ Assist in developing and implementing UF MSTP Programs which provide Scholars with experience in clinical care and clinical research, including the Clinical Research Practicum (MS1-2). OSCE for graduate students and Clinical Re-Immersion for returning MS3
+ Assist in developing and implementing Clinical and Translational Science Award Programs that support research career development, including research career interest groups, professional skill building workshops within orientation weeks, and writing groups for preparation of F30 and other grant opportunities. Coordinate and facilitate F30 mock study sections.
+ Support MPI for MSTP Student Progression to facilitate the smooth transition between MD and PhD Programs, including the identification of a PhD Program, mentor, and laboratory by end of MS2, the matriculation into one of many PhD Programs available to UF MSTP Scholars, and then return after the PhD Program to Year 3 of Medical School.
+ In collaboration with CTSI HR, complete hiring activities for all MD-PhD students to include hiring new students when they join the program along with the rehiring process for when the graduate student rejoins during their MS3.
Administrative Functions
+ The COTS will be a member of the UF MSTP Directorate which will meet regularly to coordinate Program Activities with the MPI’s, the Coordinator for Recruitment, Evaluation and Follow-up and other members of the Directorate.
+ Coordination with UF colleges within as well as outside of the College of Medicine and Health Science Center for development of “customized models” for MD-PhD Scholars with research interests in designated PhD Programs outside the basic biomedical sciences.
+ Support the MPIs in the preparation and submission of applications for MSTP T32, F30 and other NIH and Foundation funding opportunities to support MD-PhD training at UF.
Financial Functions
+ In collaboration with UF departments, medical school, insurance offices, and financial aid office, oversee important financial processes, such as stipend, insurance and tuition payments, and as well as Foundation/Endowment funds, etc and ensure timely payment.
Other duties as Assigned
+ To fill in for the MD-PhD Program Coordinator for Recruitment, Evaluation, and Follow-up during times of vacation, illness, and other absences
Expected Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
