    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the Computer Applications Support Manager, the incumbent in this position is responsible for independently participating in various projects related to the Crime Information Bureau (CIB) and the Repository Services Unit (RSU) to include the maintenance and enhancements of the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) Repository, and other projects related to collection, maintenance, and dissemination of criminal history records. Additionally, this position provides research analysis relative to state and national laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly have an impact on the dissemination of criminal justice data or information. This position works independently and in teams to accomplish objectives established in the CJIS Strategic Plan and consults with other governmental agencies to evaluate their information needs and capabilities. This position must meet and maintain NCIC/FCIC certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Specific duties include:

    + Serving as subject matter expect related to computerized criminal history systems to include comprehension and interpretation of interface contract documents, operation guides and database relationships;

    + Providing on-going quality assurance to identify potential problems and recommend alternative resolutions related to the use of systems;

    + Coordinating maintenance and development of operational systems in conjunction with Information Technology Services (ITS) to ensure organizational goals and statutory requirements are met ;

    + Consulting with local, state, and federal agencies relate to criminal justice information systems. Advised and coordinates with these agencies for the development of criminal justice information plans. Exercises independent judgment in formulating or assessing policies and procedures impacting these agencies;

    + Conducting research and analysis to prepare plans, recommendations, and reports relating to objectives established by the division strategic plan. Working with members of other functional areas within the Department to ensure efficient and effective accomplishments of agency objectives;

    + Providing research, analysis, and assimilation of information relative to laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly impact the collection/maintenance of disposition data as it relates to HAVA mandates/FVRS operations;

    + Analyzing, interpreting, and applying state and national laws, policies and guidelines related to maintenance and dissemination of criminal justice information;

    + Serving as liaison between other divisions, divisional management, and local agency representatives to ensure the needs of local agencies are addressed; and

    + Preparing management studies, creating and conducting surveys and produces written documentation to assess business processes and making recommendation based on study.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    + Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;

    + Knowledge of the criminal justice system;

    + Knowledge of the methods of data collection;

    + Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;

    + Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;

    + Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;

    + Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;

    + Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;

    + Ability to communicate effectively; and

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.

    BASE SALARY:

    + $ 52,859.88

    NOTES:

    Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
