    Position Summary

    The Director of Behavioral Health Services provides advanced clinical mental health services and supervision of a team of three clinicians within the Marion Superior Court Youth Services Center. This role includes direct therapeutic services to detained youth, staff, and oversight of clinical staff, development of individualized treatment plans, and implementation of group programming. The Director ensures consistent, trauma-informed care and compliance with professional standards. The individual must demonstrate strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to work flexible hours in a secure facility setting.

    Position Responsibilities

    + Provides clinical supervision and oversight to a team of three mental health clinicians, ensuring quality, consistency, and effectiveness of clinical services.

    + Conducts initial and ongoing mental health assessments and suicide risk evaluations for detained youth.

    + Creates individualized treatment plans in collaboration with youth and the interdisciplinary team, based on clinical needs and facility programming.

    + Facilitates therapeutic and psychoeducational groups on topics such as emotional regulation, anger management, trauma, coping skills, and decision-making.

    + Leads weekly clinical team meetings and provides case consultation and clinical guidance to team members.

    + Coordinates team caseloads and schedules to ensure adequate coverage and service delivery across all detention units.

    + Responds to mental health crises, conducts safety assessments, and supports intervention and stabilization planning in collaboration with facility staff.

    + Collaborates with detention supervisors, probation officers, medical providers, and other stakeholders to support youth progress and facility goals.

    + Maintains accurate, timely documentation in compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and facility policies.

    + Assists in developing and updating clinical protocols, treatment programming, and facility policies related to behavioral health services.

    + Supports the professional development of clinical staff through mentoring, feedback, and training.

    + Contributes to facility audits, performance improvement projects, and strategic initiatives related to behavioral health.

    + Directly supervises the case manager department and their daily operations.

    + Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Candidates must possess a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field, along with active licensure in the State of Indiana as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or HSPP (Licensed Psychologist). A minimum of five (5) years of post-licensure clinical experience working with adolescents is required, including at least two (2) years in a leadership or supervisory role. Preferred candidates will have experience in juvenile justice, detention, or correctional mental health settings. The ideal applicant will demonstrate expertise in developing individualized treatment plans and facilitating therapeutic groups, as well as possess strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, adolescent development, and crisis intervention. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills are essential. Candidates must have strong computer skills, with particular proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Candidates must also pass a criminal background check and meet all security clearance requirements for working in a secure detention facility.

     

    Marion County residency is required within six months of hire.

     

    Salary is based on applicable experience with salary enhancements for bi-lingual skills as well.
