    We are seeking a **_Sr. Financial Analyst, Faculty Practice Finance_** who will, under the supervision of Associate Director, SOM Faculty Practice, coordinate and participate in activities related to managing the School of Medicine’s (SOM) faculty workforce as part of the Faculty Practice Finance (FPF) vertical in the SOM Central Finance office. SOM Central Finance is the financial management unit within the School of Medicine, overseeing financial performance school-wide and partnering with departments to advance strategic financial initiatives.

     

    The Sr. Financial Analyst will perform financial analysis to assist management in establishing financial goals and objectives for the FPF vertical. The role will perform financial and accounting activities in support of various functions, e.g., budgeting, business planning, professional revenue evaluations, faculty compensation and funds flow impacts. The Sr. Financial Analyst will extract financial data from various accounting and information systems to perform complex cost and financial analyses and serve as a project manager to ensure the FPF team is making progress toward annual goals.

     

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    _Program Management_

    + Serve as a key member of the team to manage SOM faculty compensation, including,

    + Submit data to external agencies for benchmarking.

    + Evaluate annual benchmark data and apply benchmarks to internal data.

    + Manage the annual faculty salary letter process.

    + Provide support to departments during the annual faculty budget process.

    + Oversee data integrity of faculty-reported activities across missions within the Medivitals platform.

    + Maintain a database of financial agreements with internal and external stakeholders to track support of the faculty practice.

    + Participate in meetings and serve as staff to committee in support of the Faculty Practice, including workforce planning, new clinical program planning and compensation committees.

    _Financial Management_

    + Interpret and review data to assess past financial performance, make financial projections, and assist management in making informed business decisions.

    + Evaluate faculty, clinical associate and APP productivity and provide reports to SOM Central Finance and CPA leadership.

    + Review and validate business plans as part of the faculty recruitment process and provide feedback to department stakeholders when data inconsistencies are identified.

    + Analyze, coordinate, and consolidate departmental financial information for the development of the department/divisional fiscal year annual operating and five-year plan.

    + Analyze, extract, and define relevant complex financial data; plan and conduct complex studies to determine cost and financial results of business activities and improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the unit, department, or division. Review financial needs and explore alternative financing methods.

    + Create financial systems, structures, and controls for a variety of processes that provide tracking, validation, billing, payment, and debt reporting. Implement quality control and process improvements regarding overall business process.

    + Keep abreast of laws and regulations that impact up-to-date compliance, function as resource for administrative and financial staff.

    + Utilize comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and the university's financial accounting system to ensure internal and external compliance. Share accountability for managing financial transactions including, supplemental accruals.

    + Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.

    + Ensures that School and department colleagues are familiar with internal controls and adherence to them.

    _Stakeholders and Collaborators_

    + Partner with Executive Director and Associate Directors of Faculty Practice Finance; other Faculty Practice Financial analysts; FP&A colleagues; Financial Operations Colleagues; University Controller; JHM Budget team; JHHS/JHM colleagues

    Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    + Excellent analytical skills for interpreting budgetary, financial, and related organizational performance or management information.

    + Skills in quantitative financial and budget analyses, including developing financial models to forecast financial results under different scenarios.

    + Critical Thinking: Leverages knowledge of FPF processes, the financial health of Faculty Practice and OJHP, and dashboard monitoring to guide the Faculty Practice budget and support reporting and analysis for decision-making.

    + Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

    + Ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels of the organization.

    + Advanced technical experience in using financial software to develop and maintain financial models and automated financial reports.

    + Working knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.

    + Five years of progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually ($86,500 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

    Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8.30am-5.00pm

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
