The Educator is primarily responsible for delivering established programs related to food and fiber with the aim of fostering awareness, understanding, and appreciation of how we produce food and fiber, what we eat, and how we live by helping teachers, students, and their communities learn about and engage with agriculture and food systems. The Educator helps youth understand the connections between agriculture, the environment, and people.
This position interacts with the public through classroom, group, and one-on-one presentations. The Educator assists with promoting programs with educators, community leaders, and others. This position also appreciates and promotes a welcoming environment for all.
This position works as part of a team, performing existing or new responsibilities which can change based on Association needs, new partnerships, grant initiatives, etc.

Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree. An Associate’s degree plus 2 years related experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
+ Experience relevant to the role of the position.
+ Ability to meet the regular travel requirements associated with this position. A valid NYS driver’s license with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
+ Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
+ Ability to effectively deliver programs and meet program goals.
+ Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with staff, community leaders, students, and others.
+ Technology Skills - Microsoft Office suite, database, internet, and virtual software.

Preferred Qualifications
+ Coursework in education, youth development, or agriculture.
+ Experience with Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations.
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Program Responsibilities:
Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research – 80%
+ Deliver existing educational programs. Assist with other programs, events, and outreach as needed or assigned. May assist in teaching innovative educational programs.
+ Serve as subject matter resource ; provide standard responses.
+ Participate as an active member of the CCE Washington team.
+ Foster acceptance of the program, methods, and policies to address community and individual needs.
+ Interact with students and other participants.
+ Present as a positive role model for youth participants.
+ Represent CCE before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell or other land grant universities.
+ Participate in trainings related to building youth competencies, building youth assets, and others as they relate to program goals.
+ Utilize a variety of proven educational methodologies, including virtual programming.
+ Occasionally apply established subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans as identified.
+ May assist in multidisciplinary or multi-association team efforts to deliver programs.
+ Implement program evaluation as designed.
+ Assist in making recommendations for improvements.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction and Management – 5%
+ Assist in planning and managing assigned programs.
+ Assist in developing, expanding, and enhancing relationships for the program.
+ Assist in solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise in the program, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
Coordination and Operation – 10%
+ Coordinate assigned projects, programs, trainings, events, and meetings.
+ Perform data entry, enrollments, reporting, etc.
+ Recruit program participants.
+ Effectively collaborate with, develop, and maintain professional relationships with partner organizations and others.
+ Assist in the development of marketing or other materials.
+ Assist supervisor with public awareness by drafting impact statements, social media posts, web updates, articles for progress/ annual reports, or news releases.
+ Complete and submit all required reports, records, and documentation (e.g., program data, evaluation data, incident reports, expense reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
+ Maintain confidentiality of information regarding all program participants.
Professional Improvement – 5%
+ In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions
+ Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
+ Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

+ Aware of, and adheres to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Washington County policies, procedures and Cornell Cooperative Extension Skills for Success.

Position Details
This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week), nonexempt position. Compensation paid at the rate of $22.80 per hour. Excellent benefits, based on eligibility, including:
