    CTG is seeking to fill a Fiber Test Engineer 2 opening for our client in Council Bluffs, IA.

     

    **Location:** Council Bluffs, IA (Contractor will travel throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico)

    **Duration:** 6 months

    Duties:

    + Perform fiber characterization tests using OTDR, CD/PMD, power meter/laser source, and fiber end face inspection tools

    + Maintain and manage project schedules and documentation

    + Interpret test results and provide field analysis on vendor fiber networks

    + Splice or re-splice problematic fiber strands using industry-standard fusion splicers

    + Clean fiber end faces using appropriate industry-standard methods

    + Conduct site surveys to validate vendor infrastructure deliverables and identify issues

    + Redline project documentation including fiber path and demarcation points

    + Prepare and deliver testing packages and reports per vendor requirements

    + Interface daily with vendors and internal project managers, ensuring all compliance protocols are followed

    + Travel to assigned project locations weekly (assignments given between Thursday–Friday, travel typically occurs on Monday)

    + Be available for reassignment as project needs evolve (rare, but possible)

    Skills:

    + Proficiency in fiber network troubleshooting and OTDR testing

    + Strong communication skills for team coordination and vendor interaction

    + Ability to read and interpret fiber scopes and project documentation

    + Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel)

    + Comfortable working with both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) environments

    Experience:

    + Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry

    + Hands-on experience testing with OTDR

    + Experience with field fiber testing and troubleshooting

    + Splicing experience preferred

    + Familiarity with CD/PMD testing a plus

    Education:

    + High School diploma or equivalent required

     

    Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
