General Summary
This is a non-merit system, employment-at-will, long-term contract position.
TheSr. Quality Assurance Analystdesigns, documents, and implements quality assurance methods and systems for all custom applications, enterprise technology solutions, and third-party software in use at WSSC Water. The Sr. Q/A Analyst also serves as an advanced-level troubleshooter utilizing strong development, testing and process skills and knowledge of QA principles and their practical application to meet goals and make decisions.
Essential Functions
+ Works closely with development teams to evaluate the application requirements and synthesize plans, strategies, and scenarios for system testing
+ Assists in the development and implementation of QA testing strategy and design for large projects, complex, and/or enterprise-wide IT projects
+ Works with the Quality Assurance Manager and application development teams to establish plans, standards, and procedures that will add value to and satisfy the constraints of the project
+ Ensures adequate product testing prior to implementation
+ Ensures the adherence to quality standards in development and implementation of production applications
+ Assists in providing recommendations for acquisition and/or implementation of software to increase information systems efficiency
+ Provides technical expertise to the team and oversight and guidance to other QA team members
+ Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts
+ Leads requirements, functional, architectural and design specification reviews and participate in software code reviews
+ Develops standards and processes for testing and bench marking
+ Provides training and guidance to project teams with regard to QA processes and procedures within a project
+ Educates business users on business requirements and user acceptance testing protocols
+ Ensures standards are being followed for testing, bench marking, and change management
+ Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the QA processes and tools utilized to ensure the testing will identify potential issues with the proposed change or solution
+ Develops, maintains, and provides status reports on project progress metrics
+ Evaluates automated testing tools, potential 3rd party relationships, and in-house processes with a constant view toward refinement and improvement
+ Follows projects/changes post go-live to ensure the production performance is consistent with the tested solution
+ Researches and proposes future (mid-term/long-term) solutions through knowledge and research on the market for both tools and processes

Work Environment And Physical Demands

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
+ Advanced knowledge of testing strategy and design, and quality assurance methods and procedures
+ Advanced working knowledge of both white box and black box testing
+ In-depth knowledge of the full life-cycle SDLC process and user methodologies
+ Diverse knowledge of programming languages, including COBOL , EZTRIEVE , Web Focus, . NET , JAVA /J2EE, UNIX and SQL programming languages
+ Knowledge of designing and building test automation processes
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
+ Proficiency in Microsoft and other project management tools
+ Familiarity with relational databases, such as Oracle, SQL Server, and IDMS
+ Ability to test complex, distributed enterprise systems as well as web applications
+ Ability to assess software requirements quality including traceability
+ Ability to succinctly document inconsistencies and defects along with clear descriptions of how detected and/or steps needed to recreate and ability to make the appropriate recommendations
+ Ability to meet scope, budget and tight implementation schedules
+ Ability to understand business processes and formulate/execute a testing strategy in support of that process
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years’ experiencein a software testing, QA, automation and performance test environment that includes the following:
+ Experience in dealing with multiple projects and cross-functional teams (users and developers)
+ Experience in software engineering, software testing, QA, and automation for enterprise grade applications
+ Experience dealing with a diverse range of programming languages, such as EZTRIEVE , Web Focus, JAVA /J2EE, UNIX and SQL programming languages
+ Experience with standard SDLC methodologies in enterprise scale applications
+ Experience with at least one major test automation tools such as Mercury Interactive
OR
+ High School diploma (or equivalent) and 8+ years’ experience in a software testing, QA, automation and performance test environmentthat includes the following:
+ Experience in dealing with multiple projects and cross-functional teams (users and developers)
+ Experience in software engineering, software testing, QA, and automation for enterprise grade applications
+ Experience dealing with a diverse range of programming languages, such as EZTRIEVE , Web Focus, JAVA /J2EE, UNIX and SQL programming languages
+ Experience with standard SDLC methodologies in enterprise scale applications
+ Experience with at least one major test automation tools such as Mercury Interactive
Additional Requirements
Completion of the WSSC Water Financial Disclosure statement within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter
Preferences
+ Experience as an application or enterprise solutions developer
+ Experience with Oracle Financials
+ Experience with GIS software GIS programming scripts/languages
+ PMP certification or related training
Salary$94,128 - $160,272
