    Position Summary:

    The Digital Project Specialist is responsible for identifying and implementing innovative digital technology solutions to address operational challenges and providing ongoing support for existing applications. The position operates within the GBR Engineering Department and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that business needs are effectively communicated to and supported by the IT organization. The Digital Project Specialist is charged with making sure GBR is an industry leader in utilizing digital technology to drive efficiency, safety, and productivity.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Maintain awareness of industry trends and technology advancements relevant to refinery operations.

    + Collaborate with refinery personnel and local / corporate IT to evaluate and recommend digital innovations to deliver functional improvements and capture competitive advantages.

    + Support feasibility studies and pilot projects to assess potential benefits of new technologies.

    + Provide hands-on support during technology deployment to ensure integration with existing systems and work processes.

    + Develop and deliver training for refinery staff on new digital tools and work process improvements.

    + Define KPIs to measure the impact of implemented technology on operational performance.

    + Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on technology initiatives.

    + Communicate project updates, challenges, and successes to senior refinery management and other relevant parties.

    + Support updates to local and Refining standards, practices, and guidelines to standardize approach to digital technology use cases and implementation.

    + Participate in local and Refining and / or IT digital technology strategy teams to champion modernization and foster a culture of creative innovation.

    + Lead development and maintenance of GBR Engineering design applications and ‘Digital Twin’.

    + Tools included- Laser scans, 3D mesh-models, ePlot (ESRI ArcGIS), Report Dashboards (MyOps), SmartInstrumentation, AutoCAD, Information Management Service Request (IMSR), Drone Imagery, Power Platform, and all viewer applications.

    + Strong Focus on accessibility, data quality, data integration and linking between systems.

    + Improve and expand Engineering documentation data capture and attribution capabilities, ensuring the right documentation is readily available to end users.

    Education and Experience:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date). Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Preferred.

    + Experience: Minimum of 10 years in the petroleum industry with 5 of those years in engineering and technology focused roles preferred, equivalent educational experience is included.

    + Technical Skills: Knowledge of industrial digital technologies, automation systems, IIoT, and data analytics. Experienced in software and database migrations.

    + Experience with Microsoft O365, SharePoint Online and Power Platform applications

    + Experience with Engineering Design applications, including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, SmartInstrumentation, Laser Scan capture and processing.

    + Familiar with common refinery assets and technical documentation. Able to perform unsupervised field visits and walkdowns.
