In this role, there is the opportunity to -
+ Process specimens for analysis following established protocols for precision, accuracy, and timeliness.
+ Identify and follow up on critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results according to predefined procedures.
+ Troubleshoot problems with instrumentation, methodology, specimens, supplies, or results, and implement solutions based on predetermined protocols.
+ Participate in test development, methodology evaluation, and equipment selection and implementation.
+ Perform and document quality control procedures in compliance with established guidelines.
+ Inform supervisors or pathologists promptly of any incidents or issues encountered.
+ Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on laboratory equipment.
+ Enter patient demographic and test information accurately into the laboratory information system.
+ Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards.
+ Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies, ensuring availability and proper storage.

Medical Laboratory Scientist:
+ Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an accredited Medical Lab Scientist program OR
+ Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP or equivalent categorical or MLT certification OR
+ Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Medical Laboratory Technician MLT(ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification preferred. New York license required for NY locations.
