    _About the Opportunity_

     

    This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

    The Staff Fuel Specialist is part of the Fuels team which focuses on Fuel Procurement, Fuel Logistics and Fuel Reporting. This position will mainly be responsible for budgeting, tracking and record keeping of all fuel related commodities, and provide support for the annual Expanded Net Energy Cost (ENEC) process for rate adjustment in West Virginia.

    Responsibilities:

    + Assist and advise Director - Fuel Procurement

    + Lead fuels department budgeting process

    + Maintain and provide data for WV Public Utility Commission annual fuel cost recovery review

    + Month end reporting into Fuels Datamart

    + Maintain FileNet archive of coal contracts and documents

    + Assist with contract management of fuel related commodities

    + Monthly invoice approval and PO management

    + Submit bi-monthly coal and reagent inventory data for PJM review

    + Assist and advise in the determination of fuel needs for plants

    + Assist with the issuance of coal RFPs as needed

    + Maintain coal position data and present reports during weekly and monthly meetings

    + Monitor supplier performance to ensure consistent delivery

    + Maintain regular communication with suppliers to maintain working relationships

    + Assist in determination of annual, quarterly and monthly tonnage nominations

    + Validation of costs to support our dispatch strategy

    + Monitor coal markets for price and production trends

    + Cross train as needed to provide backup coverage as needed

    The Successful Candidate Should Exhibit the Following Behavioral Traits:

    + Contract Management experience

    + Experience with budget preparation

    + Organizational skills

    + Detail oriented

    + Data analytics / Data automation skills

    + Willingness to take initiative and assume ownership, and drive results

    Qualifications:

    + A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics or related technical degree is preferred, and an advanced degree is a plus.

    + Sr Level: 10 years of professional work experience required. Staff Level: 12 years of professional work experience required.

    + Extensive knowledge of the coal industry, coal forecasted pricing, and delivery logistics is desired.

    + Interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills are necessary.
