Job Description:
Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Senior Counsel, CAR-T Cell Therapy to join our Global Legal Organization located in Horsham, PA, Raritan, NJ, or Titusville, NJ.
The Senior Counsel, CAR-T Cell Therapy will provide legal support within the U.S. Oncology business of Johnson & Johnson’s North America Innovative Medicine Group. The position will report to the Group Leader & VP Law, Oncology, Global Medical Affairs and Scientific Affairs.
The Senior Counsel, CAR-T Cell Therapy will be the primary legal advisor supporting Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s CAR-T Cell Therapy team. In this role, the Senior Counsel will provide strategic legal advice to cross functional business partners on complex business arrangements; structure, negotiate and draft agreements with third parties; and provide general solutions-oriented legal support on a broad range of proposed business matters and strategic initiatives in areas impacting manufacturing, development, quality, supply chain, data governance, access, and healthcare compliance and privacy.
The Senior Counsel, CAR-T Cell Therapy will have direct responsibility to:
+ Provide day-to-day legal counsel to leaders and advise on matters while evaluating and balancing both legal and business risks;
+ Provide specialized commercial legal counsel and strategic advice for cell therapy activities and commercialization strategies throughout the life-cycle;
+ Structure, negotiate and draft agreements with a variety of third party stakeholders;
+ Advise on the ongoing management of collaborations and alliances with third party companies;
+ Collaborate with Global Legal Organization colleagues and other functional support areas, including Healthcare Compliance and Privacy to incorporate their guidance into aligned legal advice that supports compliant and Credo-based innovation;
+ Develop and deliver training to business clients that focuses on relevant areas of law and transactional topics related to obligations under collaboration agreements for the supported teams;
+ Provide other general corporate legal services and counsel under the direction of the Group Leader & VP Law, Oncology, Global Medical Affairs and Scientific Affairs.
Qualifications
+ A Juris Doctor Degree is required with admission to (and current good standing with) the bar of at least one state or the District of Columbia preferred.
+ A minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience is required with knowledge of legal and commercial issues impacting pharmaceutical, biotech, and/or healthcare companies.
+ Excellent strategic, analytical, and drafting skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
+ Business-oriented approach with a proven ability to proactively engage with colleagues to find practical, streamlined solutions and partner with them to implement desired action plans and contribute to compliant growth for the business.
+ Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding legal services to a variety of senior leaders.
+ Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and ability to simplify complicated issues for clients.
+ Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and an excellent track record of collaboration with colleagues in a team-based matrix, environment.
+ High integrity, strong work ethic, and able to handle multiple, simultaneous projects with enthusiasm and attention to detail, even when given tight turn-around timelines with a variety of internal teams.
+ Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with senior leaders, based on a good understanding of the facts and/or law, and executing on the decision made by management.
+ Broad-based corporate legal and commercial experience.
Preferred:
+ Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare market (preferably in Life Sciences and/or pharmaceutical/biotech industry), including, legal, compliance and regulatory issues viewed favorably.
+ Prior cell therapy legal experience

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$146,000-$251,850
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
