    Job Summary:

    In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for project’s civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of project’s civil/structural aspects are met.

     

    In this role as Senior Civil Engineer, you will support the civil design for the project. This will entail originating/checking civil calculations, specifications, material requisitions, and technical studies or reports. Additionally, checking of design drawings and review and coordination of vendor information and leading technical discussions and constructability reviews.

    Major Responsibilities:

    Schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project, or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, building, roadways, railroads, etc.

     

    Participates in the design, development, and modification of civil/structural components and?processes utilizing?relevant Engineering Department Procedures?(EDPs), design standards and guides, Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices?(DRNs)?.

     

    Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.

     

    Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements.

     

    Originates and checks structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.

     

    Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas, and possible solutions.

     

    Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements.

     

    Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.

     

    Completes civil/structural documentation and procedures for installation?and maintenance?.

     

    Provides assistance to?project and construction?management in identifying and complying with?project civil/structural requirements and in addressing?issues as they arise during project execution.

     

    Evaluates, selects, and applies standard civil engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.

     

    Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.

     

    Designs facilities, roadways, site layouts, grading plans using knowledge of civil analysis, materials engineering, and vehicular traffic and patterns.

     

    Originates and checks civil engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, drawings, and material requisitions.

     

    Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.

     

    Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.

     

    Coordinates civil engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.

     

    Provides technical assistance to other civil personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.

     

    Assists in constructability reviews.

     

    Supports construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports.

     

    Acts as a mentor or coach for subordinate engineers and designers.

     

    Leads and/or participates in technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.?

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    Career-level position within field?.

     

    Considered skilled and proficient in discipline?.

     

    Professional with an understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues.

     

    Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

     

    Prior experience in designing facilities, roadways, site layout, and/or grading plans.

     

    Ability to independently execute the design of facilities, roadways, site layout, and/or grading plans.

     

    Experience with CADD applications, such as Civil 3D, Revit, or MicroStation.

     

    Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

     

    Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and construction methods.

     

    Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.

     

    Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.

     

    Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.

     

    Possess active security clearance.

     

    Prior experience working with government agencies

     

    Experience with procurement automation tools.

     

    Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications or SpecsIntact.

     

    Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.

    Position Details:

    + Pay Rate / Range: $31.81- $68.85

     

    _The above salary range represents the range expected for the position; however, final salary offers are based on a number of factors such as the position’s responsibilities; the candidate’s experience, education, and skills; location; travel required; and current market conditions._
