Summary You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Operations Department, NAVAL AIR STATION OCEANA of NAS OCEANA. Responsibilities You will develop system wiring diagrams necessary for the installation of customer required products. You will evaluate the adequacy of electrical equipment for such purposes as repair, calibration, and testing. You will develop reports to keep management informed of completed instrument repairs. You will review test and evaluation data to determine state of operability of electronic systems. You will use schematics, Instrument Calibration Procedures (ICPs) or technical manuals to troubleshoot test equipment to board and component level. You will implement preventative and corrective maintenance to keep systems or equipment in satisfactory operating condition. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1)Assisting with maintaining Air Traffic Control Communication Systems; 2) Assisting with solving electronic equipment and maintenance issues and correcting deficiencies; 3) Assisting with interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications to identify and correct deficiencies, and resolving operational problems and recommending improved procedures; AND 4) Analyzing circuits utilizing schematics, wire diagrams, blueprints, and engineering drawings, and make rough drawings of interconnecting wiring, in conjunction with maintenance and installation of electronic equipment. Incumbent Must have a strong past experience in the maintenance of Air Traffic Control Radar Systems used by the FAA and DOD and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of: 1.) electronic theory and principle 2.) computer theory and operation as it pertains to ATC systems for maintenance programming and diagnostic software 3.)digital techniques 4.) Integrated Chip theory 5.) a working knowledge of mathematic symbology and numbering systems 6.) using appropriate test equipment to determine the cause of malfunctions and take corrective action 7.) Must be able to analyze circuits, prepare detailed electronic schematics and wiring diagrams, and read blueprints and engineering drawings. Must be able to receive and maintain a secret clearance. Must have valid state drivers license and complete annual CPR certification. Education There is no education requirements for this position. Additional Information (Continued): Must complete an airfield driving safety course. Must complete annual CPR certification requirements. Physical Demands Work may require considerable physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking over rough, slippery or uneven terrain, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, working in cramped spaces, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items (such as test equipment) ofless than 50 lbs. (23 kilograms), climb ladders to various heights (up to 70 feet); and work outside in all types of weather conditions. Work Environment Work environment involves high risk of exposure to potentially dangerous situations working in hazardous areas in close proximity to the airfields. Exposure to high noise levels, RF radiation, electrical hazards, machinery, various weather conditions to include moderate exposure to rain, cold, and/or heat and high humidity. The incumbent is required to utilize personal protective equipment and foul weather clothing. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
