    Campus Title Endpoint Systems Analyst

    Position Summary

    This is an exciting opportunity for a new college graduate or someone with experience who wants to grow their skills!

     

    Computing and Information Technology at SUNY Geneseo seeks to hire an Endpoint Systems Analyst to join the Support Services group. The Endpoint Systems Analyst works under the technical direction of the Manager of Support Services to maintain and support the infrastructure and management tools for campus Windows and Apple endpoints.

     

    A successful candidate will be able to work on a highly collaborative technical team to solve problems and provide excellent support to the college community. Training will be provided to learn these tools.

     

    Summary of Responsibilities

     

    + Administer Intune and JAMF to manage computing end points.

    + Manage software licensing and deployment for the campus.

    + Set up and maintain virtual labs

    + Develop custom reporting and analytics

    + Proactively manage infrastructure to mitigate security risks

    + Interface with third party support resources to resolve problems

    + Support system integrations

    + Maintain and contribute to documentation for applications and services

    + Learn and improve skills in CIT supported applications

     

    Flexible hybrid work arrangements may be an option subject to NYS , SUNY , and Geneseo rules, regulations, and policies.

     

    Salary: $57,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience.

    Required Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree by the time of appointment

    + Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills

    + Demonstrated ability to grow and learn

    + Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems involving multiple systems, networking, and services

    + Excellent communication skills

    + Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment

    + Ability to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis to support critical issues and project upgrades

    Preferred Qualifications

    + 1-3 years experience in a related field

    + Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Javascript)

    Function 1: Desktop Services

     

    + Communicate proactively and responsively with colleagues and users to keep them informed of the status of requests, problems with equipment or software, and activities and projects that interest or affect them. In addition to clear and concise oral and written communication, methods of communication include: posting changes, down times, outages and problems, and using the online ticketing system to keep track of current problems.

    + Maintain and install virtual desktops. These duties will include software installation, license monitoring, signage, and utilization of desktop management utilities to maintain appearance and security for these machines.

    + Manage the software available to the campus community via CIT Self Service, the CIT web site, and departmental server space. Ensure that the most current releases of software are available and notify Support Services of version changes via weekly staff meetings. Provide shared software usage reporting using KeyServer.

    + Consult with the other CIT groups and teams where their additional expertise is necessary.

    + Interact with vendors and colleagues to evaluate product offerings, training programs, and project management techniques, and to acquire technical assistance as required to perform duties.

    + Maintain internal documentation and “Self Help” documents that can be used campus wide. Create new documentation as necessary. Include location details as well as best practices and policies.

    + Maintain the production calendar for planned changes and upgrades to the computers and software in student access areas. Communicate with the CIO , Systems Director, CIT staff, and campus departments regarding deadlines for semiannual upgrades and guidelines for requesting mid-semester changes.

    + Explore and establish new services and technologies for campus endpoints as needed, in consultation with the CIO and Systems Director.

    Job Duty/ Responsibility

     

    Function 2: Windows Endpoint Device Management

     

    + Maintain relations with chosen Windows Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Work with the Chief Information Officer and Manager of Support Services to determine which OEM the campus should be using as the primary Windows computer OEM .

    + When necessary, partner with Tier 2 technicians and users to provide solutions appropriate to the user’s devices.

    + Maintain a list of Windows computer configurations that can be deployed and supported by Support Services staff. Work with the CIO and Manager of Support Services to provide and monitor changes in Windows computers and suggest new form factors when necessary.

    + Manage and maintain the hardware environment for Windows endpoint devices including the firmware ( BIOS and UEFI ) and drivers of our three hardware vendors (Dell, HP, Microsoft), and the various unique endpoint models, and any external peripherals.

    + Manage the local implementation of the Windows Insider Program to lead the beta-testing of new versions of Windows to determine their impact on the campus community. Document important changes that will impact the broader campus community in Self Help articles. Document important changes that will impact CIT operations in Knowledge Base articles.

    + Act as the primary administrator for the Microsoft SCCM infrastructure.

    + Manage third-party services and integrations for SCCM .

    + Manage first-party Azure cloud integrations in conjunction with the Systems group.

    + Monitor and remediate underlying site servers and system roles to ensure a healthy site.

    + Act as the primary administrator for the Intune Mobile Device Management ( MDM ) tool for Windows endpoints.

    + Manage the configuration of the Microsoft Bitlocker Administration and Management tool for encryption. Provide reports for endpoint device compliance with college policies on device endpoint encryption.

    + Manage the configuration of the Crowdstrike and Microsoft Defender Antivirus services for centralized identification and remediation of Windows endpoint devices. Suggest changes to improve the reliability of windows endpoint devices. Implement approved changes.

    + Build, maintain, and suggest changes to the Windows desktop deployment workflows according to industry best practices.

    + Maintain the Local Administrator Password Solution ( LAPS ) on windows endpoint devices.

    + Curate the user experience of campus owned Windows endpoint devices.

    + Maintain the Windows compatible software available to the campus community in the Company Portal program. Preview and test new versions of software prior to release for compatibility with current operating systems and business processes.

    + Serve as the project manager for the regular campus-wide Windows Upgrades of Windows endpoint devices.

    + Manage Intune Policy configurations and routinely review Intune policies for compliance.

    + Investigate and develop new deployment and upgrade methodologies for applications.

    Function 3: Apple Endpoint Device Management

     

    + Act as administrator for the Jamf Mobile Device Management suite for Apple device endpoints.

    + Maintain the Apple Device Enrollment Program and its connection to Jamf.

    + Lead beta testing of new versions of macOS to determine their impact on the campus community. Document important changes that will impact the broader campus community in Self Help articles. Document important changes that will impact CIT operations in Knowledge Base articles.

    + Curate the user experience of campus owned Apple endpoint devices.

    + Maintain the macOS compatible software available to the campus community in the CIT Self Service application. Preview and test new versions of software prior to release for compatibility with current operating systems and business processes.

    + Manage the regular campus-wide macOS upgrade process on compatible Apple endpoint devices

    Function 4: Project Management

     

    + Serve as project manager for projects requiring Desktop Management expertise.

    + Perform structured requirements gathering and analysis to provide design and architectural recommendations.

    + Develop project plans for the implementation of recommended solutions.

    + Independently execute project plans for assigned areas of responsibility.

    + Update all assigned tickets while capturing troubleshooting activities and resolution.

    + Prepare and deliver regular project status updates for an executive-level audience.

    Function 5: Teams and General Requirements

     

    + Follow CIT Policy and Procedures as defined by the CIO and CIT Management Team. These include but are not limited to attending monthly CIT department meetings and regularly scheduled functional area meetings, posting time off to CIT department calendar, completing time off and travel requests, etc.

    + Perform incidental duties associated with day-to-day functions of the offices of Computing & Information Technology, most of which entail front-line interaction with campus computer users, both in person and by telephone. These tasks include [but are not limited to] resolving computing problems for walk-in users, answering the telephone and taking messages, covering for staff absences and completing purchase requisitions.

    + Post, in a timely manner, to the status web page any scheduled changes and down times, outages and problems when appropriate.

    + Contribute to publication of technical and informational newsletters, electronic communications, bulletins and CIT web pages where appropriate.

    + Contribute to instruction of training courses for campus computing users and staff where appropriate.

    + Communicate regularly with colleagues and users to keep them informed of activities and projects that interest or affect them. Report regularly to the CIO and your area manager on the status of on-going projects.

    + Be conscious of CIT’s reputation on campus and work to improve it by effective communication, knowledgeable technical support, and offering new services when appropriate.

    + Actively participate in CIT strategic planning and assessment processes.

    + Participate when requested on CIT Project Teams where your expertise is required and/or you have the opportunity to acquire new and relevant skills. Project Team participation may comprise a significant portion of your workload during the life of a given project, and may include specific duties not outlined in this job description. The CIO in consultation with other team members will evaluate your work on Project Teams.
