    JOB SUMMARY

    The primary function of this position is to perform engineering and operations related activities to support the Southern Company transmission system. In addition, this position will be responsible for the support of transmission lines/substation design and maintenance responsibilities of the department.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    It will be expected that the successful candidate possesses the following skills:

    + Knowledge of Transmission construction and maintenance work practices

    + Effectively interact with internal and external customers

    + Ability to perform multiple tasks

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

    + Proficient in AutoCAD is required & PLS CADD is a plus

    + Knowledge of GIS applications

    + Knowledge of Transmission specific applications and tools is preferred (STOMP, TEAMS, MAXIMO, Primevera(P6), etc.)

    + Knowledge of Survey required, and LIDAR is a plus (QA/QC preferred)

    The educational requirements preferred include:

    + Four-year non-engineering degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in Transmission, Distribution, or Survey related field.

    OR

    + Two-year technical degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in Transmission, Distribution, or Survey related field.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Support transmission Engineering staff on capital projects and ongoing maintenance of the transmission system

    + Manage transmission assets by facilitating and supporting maintenance work plans

    + Manage and support line inspection, asset management, and database software tools (Transmission Line Inspection (TLIS) program, Substation, Transmission and Operations Management Program (STOMP), etc.)

    + Schedule Transmission Lines capital work, maintain templates, assist in P6 activity progression

    + Order Survey and LIDAR needed for transmission projects

    + Assist in NERC and other regulatory compliance reporting for Transmission

    + Maintain and support mapping tools and products

    + Assist in hardware/software support for Transmission

    + Provide leadership and support for call outs and storm restoration efforts
