Job Description
This position functions as a first-line manager of professional positions in a complex work area and serves as the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT’s) Learning, Development, Acknowledgement, & Surveys (LDAS) Unit Manager, responsible for the leadership, management, and coordination of all learning, professional development, acknowledgement, surveys, technical training, and education support department-wide and statewide for MDOT. The department is committed to evolving to meet the changing demands of the workforce. The Unit Manager supervises the LDAS Unit and coordinates with MDOT departments, human resources, industry partners, and educational institutions to lead the effective delivery of MDOT’s LDAS activities and initiatives. The position ensures alignment and oversees programs including the MDOT University SharePoint page, National Highway Institute (NHI) classes, professional development opportunities, State of Michigan (SOM) Learning Center for MDOT, the Director’s Award, MDOT Education Support Program, Retirements, Simply Super Service Awards, Years of Service, People First Award, all department-wide surveys, the MDOT Technical Training Program, running of the Horatio S Earle Learning Center, and maintaining multiple MDOT conference rooms, maintaining and trouble-shooting the audio visual technology system at the Earle Center and in the Van Wagoner Building. Parts of the Employee Lifecycle House Pillar are also administered in the LDAS Unit (Onboarding, Performance Management, Learning & Development, Disembarking).

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
