Summary:
Direct the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of all foods served in the school. Maintain proper inventory levels by ordering supplies; keep accurate records and accounts. Supervise and participate in the cooking, baking and preparation of foods.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Create a daily menu;
+ Satisfy budget and inventory requirements through menu planning;
+ Responsible for ordering and maintain an adequate supply of food/beverage items and verifying the quantity and quality of received products;
+ Create and enforce standards for food portioning;
+ Responsible for managing all kitchen operations to provide an excellent meal experience for all students by directing and participating in food and beverage preparation;
+ Ensure an efficient work environment by modifying, creating procedures and processes to meet deadlines;
+ Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by inspecting facilities and equipment to ensure regulatory compliance;
• Must be able to remain in a standing position up to 8 hours per day;
• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week, including overtime if needed;
• Frequently walk, bend, stoop, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms;
+ Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; and
+ Other duties as assigned.
Measurements of Success:
• Ensure satisfaction 100% of the time through the creation and presentation of great food;
• Ensure all portioning, plating, and preparation is completed consistently including the size of food items that have been cut;
• Ensure that all kitchen staff duties are performed in accordance to company standards;
• Keep wasted food under 7%;
• Maintain an exceptional personal record of punctuality and attendance;
• Satisfy all assigned budget requirements; and
• Consistently perform all duties in a responsible and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition, the individual must be punctual, have a good attendance record, and have reliable means of transportation to work.
• Must be at least 21 years of age;
• Food Handler Card certification preferred, otherwise to be obtained within 30 days from date of hire;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours);
• Work with the demands in a fast-paced setting;
• Reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift-up to 30 pounds;
• Operate basic kitchen equipment, including but not limited to stove, oven, knives, utensils, mixers, etc.;
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays and/or weekends;
• Must have the stamina to work 40 hours per week;
• Maintain a well-groomed appearance;
• Ability to set priorities and multitask;
• Self-starter;
• Motivated and flexible;
• Maintain a positive, friendly attitude no matter your emotional state; and
• Customer-focused attitude.
Education and Experience:
• High School degree or equivalent;
• Extensive knowledge of food, beverage, and service industry preferred; and
• Three years or more related experience.
