PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a PLC Controls Engineer to support post and parcel material handling projects across the country. This is a high-impact, travel-intensive role ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in PLC programming, HMI systems, and commissioning complex sortation systems.
Role Summary
As a PLC Controls Engineer, you will lead the commissioning and testing of automated material handling systems, including high-speed sortation, scanning, and merging applications. You’ll manage the controls scope of projects, from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead PLC programming, HMI configuration, and on-site commissioning activities
+ Manage project scope, schedule, and deliverables
+ Collaborate with project engineers and cross-functional teams
+ Develop and maintain technical documentation, QA/QC validations, and test plans
+ Execute system testing (BUAT/UAT/FAT) and provide post-installation support
+ Deliver customer training and ensure successful handoff
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
+ Minimum 4 years of experience in controls engineering for warehouse automation or material handling systems
Technical Expertise
+ PLC & HMI Systems: Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Wonderware Aveva Edge, SCADA
+ Drives & Interfaces: VFDs, scanner integration (SICK, Cognex), machine vision
+ Software Tools: Studio 5000, Logix 5000, RSLinx, FactoryTalk View, AutoCAD, Automation Studio
+ Protocols: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, WCS interfaces
+ Additional Tools: Ignition, SOPAS, Datalogic DataMan
Soft Skills
+ Strong project planning and budgeting capabilities
+ Excellent communication and documentation skills
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments

+ Pay Rate: $41.00 -$45.00/hr (based on experience)
+ Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
+ Travel: Up to 90% nationwide

**Pay Details:** $41.00 to $45.00 per hour
