    Position Overview

    **_Power your Future as a SCADA Engineer with QUALUS!_** We are seeking a mid-level SCADA Engineer to support the design, programming, and deployment of SCADA and control systems for utility, hydro, and power projects. This role involves hands-on work with PLCs, RTUs, and communication protocols, as well as integration with platforms like AVEVA and OSI PI. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, practical field experience, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and compliant automation solutions.

     

    This is an On-Call (OC), field-based role servicing the Northeast client territory.

    Responsibilities

    + Design, program, and deploy SCADA control systems for utility, hydro, and power applications.

    + Develop RTU configurations and PLC programs using platforms such as Allen Bradley and Modicon.

    + Integrate SCADA systems with data historians (e.g., OSI PI, AVEVA) and ensure reliable field communications.

    + Configure and troubleshoot industrial automation protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA).

    + Lead field commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of SCADA and control systems.

    + Perform system evaluations and recommend software or hardware modifications based on field data and diagnostics.

    + Ensure compliance with NERC CIP-004 and other regulatory standards.

    + Collaborate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.

    + Produce technical documentation including system specifications, test reports, and training materials.

    + Travel to client sites as needed (typically no more than 25%).

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or 6-8 years of equivalent experience).

    + 8+ years of SCADA engineering experience; Leadership and project management experience a plus.

    + Proficiency in SCADA system design, deployment, and platforms such as AVEVA/Wonderware and OSI PI.

    + Experience programming PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley, Modicon) and configuring RTUs for SCADA projects in utility, Hydro, or power environments.

    + Strong understanding of SCADA architecture and industrial automation protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, DNP3).

    + Skilled in scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript, VBScript) and Microsoft Office tools.

    + Must pass a NERC-level background check and be willing to travel up to 25%.

    + Ability to manage multiple complex projects and deliverables.

    + Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communications skills.
