    Seattle Times Media Solutions is looking for an experienced Paid Search Specialist to join our team. As a Paid Search Specialist, you will be responsible for the paid search program, focused on strategy, management, implementations, and reporting across multiple geographies and verticals. The ideal candidate will need the ability to think creatively, contribute innovative ideas and have a passion for digital marketing.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manage the day-to-day paid search marketing activities across multiple search engines (Google, Bing and Yahoo), including the campaign planning, implementation, budget management, performance review, and overall optimization.

    + Monitor and report on the effectiveness of search marketing campaigns while frequently maintaining and providing clear communication to internal partners.

    + Develop compelling ad copy that is consistent with the advertiser’s brand messaging and guidelines.

    + Proactively identify fact-based trends and opportunities for upsell.

    + Keep up with the latest search marketing industry trends and campaign features

    + Collaborate with Account Managers (AMs) to ensure paid search advertising needs specific to each advertiser are being met.

    + Serve as a team leader and be comfortable providing training and support other search specialists

    Essential Skills:

    + Working knowledge and mastery of SEM campaign setup and management strategies and techniques (without the aid of 3rd party software and automation programs) to include, but not limited to:

    + Variations in campaign types and networks such as Search Network only, Search Network with Display Select, Display Network only, Shopping, Video / YouTube and Universal app

    + Dynamic campaigns and interactive ad types such as Gmail ads, Dynamic and Responsive ad units for feed based campaigns, etc.

    + Google Merchant Center setup and Shopping Campaign Management

    + Google Analytics best practices and UTM usage best practices for proper conversion attribution

    + Effective budget management to achieve accurate pacing and campaign fulfillment

    + Automated and manual bid strategies as well as display good judgement in selecting the appropriate bid strategy for an advertiser

    + Differentiation and best case uses for keyword match types: broad match, modified broad match, phrase match and exact match

    + Ability to identify areas of focus for campaigns, select appropriate keywords, and setup up relevant conversion tracking accordingly to best serve an advertiser’s overall objective

    + Understanding of call tracking and conversion tracking methods and implementation procedures as well as possess the ability to troubleshoot issues, as needed.

    + Understanding of Google My Business setup and integrations with Google Ads, as well as, willingness to advise advertisers accordingly as needed

    + Mastery of Google Analytics setup as well as advanced knowledge of metrics and dimensions, cross domain tracking solutions, event tracking and goal setup for all conversion goal types.

    + Working knowledge of Google Tag Manager setup and implementation, as well as, tag and trigger setup and management.

    + Exhibits ability to accurately analyze large amounts of data across multiple platforms and data sources to provide both summary level and detailed explanations of campaign performance as well as utilize this data to provide effective recommendations for improvement and/or continued success

    + Experience training paid search teams on campaign strategies and best practices.

    + A consistent record of leading a program from conception through completion

    + Experience working with enterprise level web analytics tools.  Google Analytics experience required.

    + Possess critical strategic thinking and ability to readily identify obstacles and offer solutions

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    + Digitally savvy, with specific proficiency at Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint

    + Enthusiasm for working as a team; ability to establish good rapport with colleagues

    + Commitment to integrity, strong work ethic and positive attitude

    + Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision

    Qualifications:

    + Experience: 5+ years of search engine marketing experience managing large-scale accounts. Agency experience a plus.

    + Education: BA / BS degree preferred; emphasis in business, marketing or communications

    + Certifications: Google and Bing Certifications (Advanced) in good standing.

     

    Work Location: This is a hybrid role requiring some work in our Seattle office.

     

    Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $67,100 to $92,200. We typically pay between $61,100 to $83,900, depending on experience and qualifications.
