    Overview:

    We are seeking a skilled and analytical Quantitative Risk Analyst to join the Consumer Credit Risk Management team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on working with large, complex datasets and is passionate about applying analytical techniques to drive data-informed decisions.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Assist in establishing, monitoring, evaluating and interpreting data with a credit risk management focus with an understanding of business goals by applying analytical and decision science frameworks. Translate analytical insights into actionable business strategies.

    + Develop of analytical and business acumen for the product lines that we support and in areas such as data analysis, segmentation analysis, logistic regression, decision trees and multivariate analysis. Accumulate working knowledge of Credit Risk data to provide data and analytical support to Senior Management.

    + Perform data manipulation and analysis using SAS, Python, SQL and Microsoft Office applications and present results and recommendations to various stakeholders.

    + Track portfolio performance and risk strategy results. Incorporate observations and data into existing analytical processes to improve predictive results.

    + Identify deviations from forecast/expectations and explain variances. Identify risk and/or opportunities.

    + Track portfolio performance and risk strategy results. Incorporate observations and data into existing models to improve predictive results.

    + Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk governance and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

    + Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

    + Maintain M&T internal risk governance standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

    + Complete other related duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience Required:

    Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Analysis or another technical discipline,

    OR in lieu of degree,

    A combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/or work experience to include a minimum of 2 years relevant experience. -OR- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Analysis or another technical discipline.

     

    Minimum of 2 years relevant experience

     

    Banking or Financial Services experience.

     

    Credit Analysis experience preferred. Experience with SAS, SAS Enterprise Miner and other Statistical Software Packages.

     

    Advanced Knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Office.

     

    Ability to utilize analytics in a collaborative manner across business functions and product lines to derive optimum solutions.

     

    Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts.

     

    M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $70,023.60 - $116,706.01 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
