This posting is for a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Supervisor I (VERS I) in the Wilkes County Equipment Shop. This position supervises vehicle/equipment repair technicians, mechanics helpers, and other semi-skilled trades personnel that perform small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment. Responsible for determining the type and extent of repair work to be completed and scheduling vehicles/equipment for service/repair. Work also includes establishing general time limits for maintenance or repair work; making repair assignments and using SAP to create, manager, and close repair orders; and determining the extent of any additional repair work to be done. Inspect work upon completion to determine that necessary repairs have been made and that vehicles and/or equipment are in proper operating condition; prepare work reports on maintenance/repair work done. Working with the parts department to maintain inventory insuring that SAP is used to order, receive, inventory, and bill parts, fuel, and lubricants. Work is performed in accordance with established practices and departmental procedures and policies and evaluated through operational efficiency and effectiveness.

+ Experience working with internal customers and outside vendors to complete daily work activities
+ Knowledge of the proper tools and equipment needed to successfully operate a fleet repair and maintenance facility
+ Experience in applying best practices as it relates to housekeeping techniques, needed to maintain a vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance facility
Additional Expectations:

Communicates information to individuals or groups; clearly and concisely conveys written information orally or in writing to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the information and message. Listens and responds appropriately to others. Establishes expectations and clear direction to meet goals and objectives of ongoing work for a group of employees. Observes and assesses work, provides feedback; establishes a culture of safety for employees and ensures that work processes are free from safety and health hazards, and the employees are properly trained. Class A CDL with N endorsements required. Safety toe footwear is required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the repair of vehicles and/or equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications
May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
