Job Description
The Executive Director, Development is responsible for the overall management and strategic vision pertaining to fundraising for their assigned service areas with the mentality of a Chief Development Officer, developing strategic plans and approaches to drive strong fundraising results including but not limited to: Identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of prospective major and principal gift donors for all programs and services, leading to major funding of Cedars-Sinai’s highest priorities in two or more major service lines and generalist areas.. Leads a team of professional senior fundraisers and support staff. Manages all aspects of his/her team's personnel initiatives including hiring, firing, training, evaluating, counseling, etc. Manages relevant budgets in assigned areas. Includes collaboration with assigned physicians and CSMC leadership. Works with volunteers in planning and implementation of programs and events through various committees and Board leadership. Develops relationships with new constituents.
•Responsible for donor cultivation, building relationships with prospective and current donors; Researches opportunities for funding sources such as grants, donors, sponsors, etc. and pursuing any potential prospects
•Develops relationships with high capacity donors leading to closing and stewarding high impact gifts for the benefit of CSMC
•Develops network of donors leading to the identification of potential high capacity donors by working with the medical staff, volunteers, and other members of the community
•Sets goals and objectives/plans to implements strategies for cultivation and solicitation that will lead to closing gifts; identifies and tracks prospects using RE7
•Creates strategy for each donor to align institutional and department goals; connect department goals with institution's needs
•Build strong relationships between department leadership and Advancement leadership
•Knowledgeable in Philantrophic trends to present and educate others on the best practices for donor engagement and cultivation
•Manage team of fundraisers and support staff for assigned medical/scientific areas as well as general organizational needs such as capital and unrestricted funds
Qualifications
Education:
bachelor's degree - minimum requirement
master's degree - preferred
Work Experience:
Minimum 10 years - Fundraising experience; management experience; front-line gift officer experience; knowledge of community/philanthropic resources
2 - 5 years Experience working in large, complex organizations. Academic Medicine preferred.
