Support Center - Irving
The Director - Product Integrity is responsible for ensuring the quality of products across brands, product creation, and operational functions. They will do this by developing and implementing processes, and executing a cost-effective, category-specific quality strategy that supports Michaels merchandising objectives while minimizing safety, regulatory and supply chain risks.
Major Activities
Quality Assurance & Product Testing
+ Leverage processes and technology to reduce waste, cost, and time in order to maximize revenue through optimizing efficiencies, resulting in better experiences for our customers
+ Partner with appropriate Business Leaders to ensure preparedness, understanding, and adoption of new global quality assurance processes and tools
+ Indirectly lead and influence internal partners and testing labs on the development of appropriate and cost-efficient test protocol
+ Create and manage test strategies with suppliers and labs.
+ Approve test groupings and corrective action plans in Michaels Product Compliance System
+ Analyze test results and create resolutions to the issues
+ Monitor compliance reports and manage vendors to assure that all products are tested as required
+ Train Michaels Team Members, agents, and vendors regarding product standards, quality and/or compliance-related subjects
Cross Functional Partnerships
+ Collaborate with a global team to set quality strategy roadmap, goals, metrics, and objectives
+ Drive improvements in the capability of the manufacturing process, leading to overall defects and reduce rework across all manufacturing locations
+ Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop, document and apply appropriate product standards and proactively assures quality, safety and compliance
+ Perform risk assessments on new products/programs and ensure they meet guideline
Product Inspection
+ Manage product inspection plans; select items for inspection
+ Review failed and “Pass & Hold” inspection reports; coordinate and communicates disposition
Issue Resolution
+ Collaborate with internal partners (e.g. Legal and Loss Prevention) to investigate quality, safety, compliance or other product issues; assess associated risks, determines root cause(s) and formulates an appropriate response
Packaging Approval
+ Review and approve product packaging for appropriate warnings and regulatory compliance
Product Designation
+ Review new products to determine product designations, testing and compliance requirements, and enter into appropriate systems
Travel
+ Travel internationally to train, or work with agents, labs, inspection contractors and vendors/factories
Team Leadership
+ Clearly communicate expectations to ensure the team has the tools needed to deliver successful results
+ Drive succession planning and talent development at all levels of the Sourcing organization
+ Promote strong fiscal and ethical standards throughout the organization

Minimum Education
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires
+ 10+ years industry experience; minimum of 2 years in retail quality management
+ Experience with consumer product testing, quality assurance and/or regulatory compliance
Other
+ International travel is required; Limited domestic travel
Preferred Type of Experience the Job Requires
+ Private Brand, product development and/or direct import experience is highly desirable
