    Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

     

    The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is administratively attached to GBI. CJCC is legislatively charged with eleven areas of criminal justice coordination. Among those responsibilities is to serve as the statewide clearinghouse for criminal justice information & research. Develop criminal justice legislative & executive policy proposals; & serve in an advisory compacity to the Governor on issues impacting the criminal justice system. CJCC plans & administers tens of millions of dollars in federal criminal justice and victim services grants.

     

    Location : This position is located at: 104 Marietta Street, Atlanta GA 30303

    Description:

    Under general supervision, the Statewide Human Trafficking Victim Advocate will provide advocacy services at the state level in coordination with federal, state and local law enforcement. The selected candidate will initiate trauma-informed, survivor-focused care by tending to the immediate needs of the victim, providing vital information and support. Advocacy will be provided to victims both in person and virtually.

     

    The Statewide Human Trafficking Victim Advocate will also serve as a liaison between survivors and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit (H.E.A.T.) ensuring the victims’ voices are heard in policy and protocol development, as well as respond to statewide hotline inquires. Serving as a systems-based advocate, and a primary resource to law enforcement, the selected candidate will provide victim access to justice system information, and legal and investigative accompaniment while ensuring victim safety. Note: Some overnight and out of state travel is required.

     

    NOTE: Statewide Human Trafficking Victim Advocate must be accessible 24/7 . Work week schedule will be adjusted as needed when employee is called on the scene. This position requires a valid current driver’s license

    Key Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Required to be on scene and coordinate with GBI and other law enforcement for victims of Human Trafficking

    + Prepares necessary reports according to rules and regulations, state, and federal laws

    + Compiles records and prepares reports; performs follow-up to determine the status of victim’s case

    + Coordinates and monitors services, including comprehensive tracking of victims of Human Trafficking safety

    + Develop case plans that effectively utilize community resources to meet needs of victims

    + Ensure that victim is referred to appropriate resources

    + Maintain required documentation and completes reports

    + Make immediate assessments regarding safety of clients and responds according to established protocol and policies

    + Work in collaboration with legal system to ensure safety and achieve desired outcomes

    + Provide in person and telephone to advocacy support to victims of human trafficking

    + Respond to statewide hotline inquiries

    + Perform support duties, coordination, and outreach relevant to victims

    + Participate in human trafficking awareness and outreach events

    + Create and deliver presentations

    + Receive additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas

    + Establish and maintains a working relationship with stakeholders, nonprofit and governmental victim servicing agencies

    + May assist in developing strategies for identifying potential stakeholders and determining most appropriate methods for contact

    + May plan and develop methods of delivering promotional information to the public and designated audiences within and outside the agency

    + Attend conferences, trade shows, or conventions

    + Assist with the development of criteria, standards, and concepts

    + Use statistical or historical data and other pertinent information to develop outreach strategies

    + Define goals, expected outcomes, or results of outreach events/projects to program administrators, agency managers, colleagues, and support staff

    + Maintain appropriate records and statistical information

    Entry Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree and two (2) yeas of case management experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 (SSP070) or position equivalent

    Preferred Qualifications

    In addition to entry qualifications, preferred qualifications include: certifications in victim services, victim advocacy, victim’s assistance, crime victims, experience with trauma intervention and survivor, etc. or one (1) or more years’ experience specifically working as an advocate with victims of Human Trafficking.

     

    An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over- year basis.
