Job Title: Asphalt Paving Foreman

Job Description

An Asphalt Paving Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising a paving crew, ensuring efficient and safe asphalt paving operations while adhering to quality standards and project specifications. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing paving projects, often working with a variety of equipment and personnel.

Responsibilities

+ Direct and supervise a crew of asphalt laborers and equipment operators, including training, coaching, and delegating tasks.

+ Understand project plans and specifications, plan work sequences, and coordinate with other teams such as trucking and plant operators.

+ Ensure the quality of asphalt paving, adhere to project specifications, and implement quality control checks.

+ Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for crew members and the public.

+ Complete daily paperwork, track production, and report on project progress, downtime, and other key metrics.

+ Oversee equipment maintenance, coordinate equipment needs, and ensure equipment is used safely and efficiently.

+ Identify and resolve issues that may arise during paving operations, such as material quality problems or equipment malfunctions.

+ Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in asphalt paving, often requiring 5+ years of experience.

+ Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

+ Knowledge of asphalt paving equipment and techniques.

+ Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

+ Understanding of safety regulations and procedures.

+ Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.

+ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in road construction and construction supervision.

+ Proficiency in construction planning and concrete finishing.

+ General labor skills, including the use of hand tools and trowels.

+ Possession of Construction PPEs such as hard hat, high visibility vest, and steel toe or work boots.

Work Environment

The Asphalt Paving Foreman will lead a team of concrete laborers, finishers, and pavers to successfully meet deadlines and deliver top-notch quality on each project. Work will be conducted on construction sites across various locations throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County. The majority of work will be outside and labor-intensive, requiring resilience and dedication.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nipomo, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.50 - $49.25/hr.
