NOW HIRING 1ST SHIFT DIESEL MECHANIC - DURANT, IA

Monday-Friday: 7AM-4PM

PAY: $22-28/hr

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair local trucks, ensuring they are operational for timely deliveries in Norfolk. This role is crucial for keeping our fleet in excellent condition and meeting DOT standards.

Responsibilities

+ Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and equipment lubrication.

+ Replace brake shoes and pads, and repair leaking wheel seals.

+ Inspect, test, and diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment using diagnostic software.

+ Utilize hand tools and power tools, including pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists.

+ Address issues from Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and ensure corrections meet DOT standards.

+ Possess knowledge of air brake systems and rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.

+ Specialize in repairing and maintaining engine parts like fuel injection and electrical systems.

+ Perform annual DOT inspections and align front ends and suspension systems.

+ Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems.

+ Adjust or repair computer-controlled exhaust emissions devices.

+ Complete monthly inventory reports to ensure accurate parts availability.

+ Log billable time on maintenance software for tracking purposes.

Essential Skills

+ Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines.

+ Strong knowledge of diesel transportation, repair, hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems.

+ Experience with preventive maintenance, engine repair, and trailer repair.

+ Ability to use hand tools and equipment for fleet and diesel maintenance.

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel or fleet maintenance or mechanical knowledge.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Class A CDL preferred or willingness to obtain if not currently held.
