    Essential functions (job duties):

    Essential Functions % Time Perform clinical/population science (human subjects) research.

     

    Recruitment of child and adolescent research participants and their families. 10%

     

    Conduct phone screens of potential research participants. 10%

     

    Scheduling of in-person research evaluations and MRIs. 10%

     

    Administration of 3-4 hour research evaluations with children/adolescents and their families that include assessment for a broad range of childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders. Screening measures include semi-structured interviews (i.e. KSADS, SOCOBS, CYBOCS, WASI) and self-report measures. 40%

     

    Collection, documentation, and maintenance of data. Proofread and edit research data and documents to ensure accuracy. 10%

     

    This position requires occasional weekend availability and participation in on-call and off-shift rotation assignments as well as availability by cell at all times. 10%

     

    Recruitment at community events. 10%

    Supervision and training of new research staff and research volunteers.

     

    Conduct one-time psychiatric evaluations including establishing a diagnosis, consultation with a psychiatrist, and providing and coordinating appropriate referrals.

     

    Participate in research team meetings, individual supervision, and Grand Round presentations.

    Unique duties:

    The Wayne State University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team, focusing on understanding childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders. This position offers extensive training in clinical research and the assessment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in a supportive academic medical setting. Key Responsibilities: Respond to research intake and referral inquiries. Recruit child and adolescent research participants and their families. Conduct phone screenings of potential participants.     Qualifications:

    Education: Doctorate degree

     

    Requires advanced knowledge in a field of science or learning, predominantly intellectual in character.

     

    This knowledge is acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction.

     

    Experience: Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)

     

    Job related experience can include doctorate training. Experience performing basic research techniques,

     

    preferred. Must have distinguished themselves in research. Prior recipient of funding for research based on individual achievements.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to work independently. Ability to secure grants and funding for research. Ability to collect, analyze, summarize and interpret research findings in reports and communicate results to the field. Knowledge of and experience with current scientific integrity principles. Excellent time management and organization skills.

     

    Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment. Microsoft office software skills.

    Preferred qualifications:

    Master’s degree in a related field of study, Ph.D. preferred. Requires advanced knowledge, predominantly intellectual, in a field of science or learning acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction Temporary or Fully licensed Psychologist Clinical experience with pediatric populations, specifically OCD & ADHD Interest in publication in pediatric mental health disorders Experience performing basic research techniques or interacting with human subjects is preferred.
