Job Description

This position is responsible for extracting, translating, and loading offender data from the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) enterprise data systems. This position is the recognized resource for all of MDOC with the responsibility of building and maintaining a department wide Data Warehouse (DWH). This will include constructing SQL queries to facilitate the extraction, translation, loading, and validation of the data into the DWH from the sources. The position will also create reports using data in the DWH. This position will be responsible for de-normalizing the current data bases in order to allow their data to be readily available for reports.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

Selective Position Requirement: Minimum two years of experience developing queries from multiple tables and a variety of databases and analyzing the resulting data.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

Additional Requirements and Information

Work Location: This position is located in Lansing, Michiganand will require reporting in person for the first two weeks. After the initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be approved that will allow work to be performed remotely up to 50% of the time with the other 50% of the work being performed in-person in Lansing.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
