    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE

    Establishes, leads, plans, and organizes the management, maintenance, and optimization of all dining-related assets. Ensures that equipment, technology, and facilities across all dining locations are accounted for, in good working condition, and aligned with the University dining program’s operational goals and sustainability initiatives. Provides key performance data, as well as risk assessments, for driving capital renewal priorities. Supervises a team of professionals focused on safety and process improvement. Collaborates closely with dining leadership, procurement, facilities, and IT to support a high-quality dining experience for students, faculty, and staff.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Develops policies, programs, goals, and objectives related to the physical infrastructure and assets of the University dining program. Brings industry best practices, risk and cost assessment data, and technology together to drive and implement appropriate, cost-effective strategies. Maintains an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all dining services equipment, furniture, and technology assets. Oversees lifecycle planning for dining assets, including acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement. Develops and implements asset tracking systems and protocols to improve accountability and operational efficiency. Represents the department internally and externally with outside agencies, organizations, contractors, consultants, and suppliers. Solicits and negotiates services for equipment and IT maintenance services.

    + Assists in the planning and execution of capital improvement projects related to dining facilities and equipment upgrades. Coordinates with internal stakeholders and contractors on renovations, installations, and new construction projects. Works with IT and dining technology vendors to manage POS systems, temperature monitoring tools, and kitchen equipment software.

    + Prepares budget recommendations for the dining services’ operations. Recommends priorities for the Capital Renewal/Replacement budget based on review of asset management analytics. Collaborates with leadership, procurement, and finance to ensure cost-effective sourcing and compliance with university purchasing policies. Promotes sustainability through energy-efficient asset selection and waste-reduction practices.

    + Ensures compliance with safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards related to dining equipment and facilities. Works with leadership to ensure departmental consistency in the application of policies, procedures, and required equipment safety per the University Sanitarian and Monroe County Department of Health protocols. Maintains knowledge of current industry practices through association membership, training sessions, continuing education, and industry activities. Performs audits of locations to make sure equipment and facilities do not present safety hazards. Provides direction to managers on PPE standards and adherence. Manages Safety specialist and reviews findings with operations teams and ensures appropriate adjustments made. Manages the relationship between department leads from Environmental Services, Housekeeping, and Campus Dining.

    + Leads, directs, and manages the performance of direct reports in the areas of process improvement and safety. Directs the staff in all functions related to the assessment, prioritization, scheduling, monitoring, work standards, and performance. Enhances performance quality by setting clear standards, monitoring progress, providing feedback, and identifying training needs for direct reports. Implements improvement plans, developing performance expectations for a culture of continuous growth and development, and aligning performance results with University-wide goals and objectives. Ensures a culture of continuous growth and development and aligns performance results with department-wide goals and objectives. Assesses current skills and training needs of direct reports. Assists in the development of training programs that simultaneously strengthen employee performance and enhance potential career advancement.

    + Supports the Associate Director of Operations in other projects and initiatives as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + Associate's degree in business management, facilities management, hospitality management, or related field required.

    + Bachelor’s degree in business management, facilities management, hospitality management, or related field preferred.

    + 5 years of experience in a leadership role in asset, facilities, or hospitality management required.

    + Previous leadership experience, including team management required.

    + Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

    + Ability to manage complex projects, and design and implement new programs required.

    + Ability to analyze, condense, and synthesize information and provide accurate analysis and summaries required.

    + Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities required. Strong attention to detail required.

    + Proven strategic planning skills required.

    + Ability to exercise independent judgment and follow established protocols and procedures required.

    + Experience working with a diverse audience preferred.

    + Experience with university dining or auxiliary services preferred.

    + Serv-Safe and AllerTrain certification required within 12 months.
