Scope/Summary Statement: The Machinist will be responsible for the planning, setup, and operation of all machine shop equipment such as milling, grinding, drilling, band/chop saw, turning (lathe work) and polishing.

Job Function Statements:

+ Set up and monitor all shop machines and there processes. Including holding tolerances of +/- .002.

+ Read and understand blue prints, drawings, sketches and instructions to complete specifications of output.

+ Must be able to setup and operate all manual machine shop equipment.

+ Create basic Prototrak conversational CNC programs.

+ Custom machine parts for "fit and function". Not all parts will have drawings or specifications.

+ Communicate and collaborate with various departments to create proto type components parts, assemblies, tooling gages, maintenance repair parts and test equipment.

+ Must be able to accurately use measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, pin gages and other standard precision measuring devices.

Education and / or Experience:

+ High School graduate or GED required, completion of technical school highly recommended.

+ Minimum of 5 years of machining experience.

+ Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.).

+ CNC programming and CAD software experience is a plus.

+ Ability to machine and fabricate parts.

+ Certified Welder is a plus.

+ Ability to work in a safety conscious manner; understanding safety guidelines and protocols.

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform related tasks in a time-sensitive environment.

Physical Requirements:

+ Ability to stand for long periods of time.

+ Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
