Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Food Service Ambassador in the Patient Room Service Department, you will assist patients in ordering meals, prepare patient food trays and deliver meals to patients’ rooms. You will act a contact between the Food & Nutrition Department, the patient and the nursing units.

+ You will assist patients in completing meal orders and answer questions

+ You will read patient meal tickets and prepare patient meal trays based on specific diet orders

+ You will ensure the right food, portions and garnishes are placed on every tray

+ You will deliver patient food trays on time and at proper temperatures to patient rooms

+ You will collect food trays and completed meals from patients’ rooms

+ Throughout food service, you will serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner, always showing great customer service

What qualifications you will need:

+ At least 6 months of healthcare food service experience

+ 1 year of experience working in food service in a healthcare environments – preferred

+ High School Graduate or GED Equivalent

+ Associates degree – preferred

+ Current ServSafe Food Handler Permit, Travis/Williamsons County Health Department
