Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Registered Clinical Dietician you will be responsible for assessing the nutritional status of patients and designing nutrition programs to maintain or improve their health. As the Registered Dietician (R.D.) you will serve as a consultant within the Food and Nutrition Department and make recommendations on menu options, snacks, and other aspects of nutritional provision.
+ You will provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets
+ You will conduct nutritional screenings and assessments of patients
+ You will collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations
+ You will identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients' records
+ You will assist the Food Service Department Dietary Aides with patient food selection and which foods are allowed and disallowed based on the prescribed diet
What qualifications you will need:
+ 1 year of clinical nutrition experience in an acute care hospital setting – preferred
+ Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with successful completion of American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program
+ Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential or eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration within 6 months of initial employment
+ Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians within 6 months of initial employment
