    Engineer Supervisor - Water Infrastructure Planning

     

    _This job is eligible for relocation assistance to aid with the costs of relocating to the Colorado Springs area._

     

    Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring a people-oriented, results-driven leader to oversee our Water Infrastructure Planning team of engineers! Our team leads water system and facility planning efforts for our water distribution system and assets serving the Pikes Peak region. Our system is comprised of raw water systems, dams, and reservoirs; five Water Treatment Plants (WTPs); pump stations and tanks; thousands of miles of distribution system pipelines; and a non-potable system. You will have the opportunity to impact all areas of our water system, from raw water and treatment to distribution and re-use.

     

    You will define long-term strategies and oversee the planning and development of critical water infrastructure to meet the current and future needs of our growing community. You will also be at the forefront of the water industry through understanding and anticipating new technologies, industry trends, and regulations affecting public water systems.

     

    What Else Will You be Doing?

     

    + Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of engineers on the Water Infrastructure Planning team

    + Collaborating with other leaders and engineers to develop, refine, and implement planning processes to achieve organization-wide consistency of infrastructure and resource planning methods

    + Forecasting and planning for mid- to long-range water system projects necessary to address growth, regulatory, resiliency, and reliability needs

    + Collaborating with Design, Project Management, and Operations staff to develop and establish consensus on the Water Infrastructure 20-year Capital Improvement Plan

    + Leading long-term capital planning efforts for the raw water, treatment, finished water, and non-pot systems

    + Managing the Water Infrastructure Planning O&M budget to ensure adequate annual funding and appropriate spending for Studies and Alternative Analyses (SAAs) and facility planning efforts

    + Assisting Plant and Environmental staff in negotiating with the Colorado Department of Health & Environment when WTP operating permits are reviewed or renewed

    + Maintaining Water Treatment Plant Facility Plans and the Finished Water, Non-Pot, and Raw Water System Plans

    + Ensuring project delivery best practices are implemented in water planning to properly begin projects and transition between delivery phases

    + Recommending policies and strategies to senior management related to service levels, infrastructure, and asset management

    + Anticipating and planning for future water and reuse regulatory compliance requirements

    Who You Are

    + Ability to lead a team of engineers in ways that yield engagement, job satisfaction, professional growth and development, trust, and empowerment

    + Demonstrated experience in water engineering (e.g., water infrastructure planning, design, etc.)

    + Knowledge of water treatment processes

    + Knowledge of and experience with project management and industry best practices related to project delivery

    + Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline is **_required_** , preferably Civil or Environmental

    + Possession of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
