The Director Early-Stage Innovation at Cepheid is accountable for incremental funnel value (IFV) from innovation by collaborating with senior innovation leaders and project teams on the implementation and sustainment of continuous improvements of critical business processes. Their goal is to improve performance on the Innovation Equation with a specific emphasis on the translation of IFV to IPV in part by connecting the technology roadmap to product roadmap. They are responsible for participating in and improving the quality of the Cepheid Certified Practitioner (CP) community, growing the community in a specific tool or increasing a given tool capacity in alignment with business needs.
The position is part of the DBS (Danaher Business System) Organization and will report to the Senior Director Global Innovation DBSL. At Cepheid, we focus on delivering a Better Way to improve patient outcomes by enabling access to molecular diagnostic testing everywhere.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Partner with senior leaders and project teams to leverage DBS to deliver annual IFV objectives, innovation key performance indicators (KPIs), and project level KPIs. This includes the installation and sustainment of high-quality daily management (DM), visual project management (VPM) and problem-solving process (PSP) as needed.
+ Partner with functional and project leads on the kaizen process including kaizen funnel development, prioritization, resourcing, activation, and execution. Ensure effective sustainment of results and support problem solving as needed to close gaps to targets.
+ Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. Augment with additional resources (DBSO, outside resources) where applicable, and improve DBS training and facilitation by pursuing certification in DBS tools for yourself and others, including managing a funnel of experts.
+ Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation) that is tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging DBS tools as an active Leader in PD and Daily Management reviews. Be an active Leader in PD and DM reviews (as appropriate).
+ Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. Facilitate other DBS training sessions when appropriate (other trainers and consultants from Danaher, Shingijutsu or other).
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years’ experience as practitioner in a related field.
+ Proven ability to consistently deliver results while influencing leaders without authority. Including but not limited to coaching leaders at different altitudes while driving change and leveraging change management best practices.
+ Proven ability to thoughtfully apply Danaher Business System Fundamentals and Innovation Growth Tools to Innovation or New Product Development activities and teams to drive growth.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ 5+ years at Danaher or a sister company with a passion for Danaher Business System(DBS) and experience in applying DBS principles to new product development – ideally in more than one operating company.
+ Installing and / or facilitating technology development process (TDP), technology road mapping, customer centric product development (CPD), problem to portfolio (P2P), visual project management, and resource models.
+ Participating in the use of Strategic tools such as Strat Planning and Strategic Innovation Review.

The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $200,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
