    Job Description

    A Glimpse of the Job The Assistant Vice President for University Risk and Compliance is responsible for providing strategic leadership for University-wide risk management and compliance programs, including oversight of the University Risk and Compliance office and Open Records. This position is the Compliance Officer for Texas A&M University and will report to the Vice President for Risk, Ethics and Compliance. This position encourages a work environment that is respectful and accepting of individual differences.

    Essential Duties/Tasks

    SUPERVISORY:

    + Serves as Compliance Officer for the university and oversee university-wide compliance activities, e.g., coordination of university rules and standard administrative procedures, internal management reviews that focus on audit risks and other compliance areas, coordination of certain required annual and biennial regulatory reporting, etc.

    + Oversees the University's audit liaison function.

    + Coordinates communication of audit issues and managements responses.

    + Oversees internal management reviews and consultations regarding process improvement and internal controls, performance of special requests, presentations of information and training for administrators, faculty, and/or staff, etc.

    + Oversees the University's enterprise risk management process (e.g., facilitate University-wide and other unit risk assessments that identify risks and mitigating activities, perform reviews of significant University-wide mitigations, etc.)

    + Oversees Office of Open Records.

    PROGRAM/PROJECT COORDINATION:

    + Serves as the chair or serves on committees, task forces, and other teams as appointed (i.e., TFCE, ADA Compliance Committee, Web Accessibility, Compliance Committee, etc).

     

    OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Experience

    + Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience

    + Ten years of experience in risk and compliance or a related area.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Exceptional interpersonal skills.

    + Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

    + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

    + This position is security sensitive

    + This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures

    + All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements
