    ZF Active Safety and Electronics US, LLC has job openings (multiple) for the position of Senior Engineer-Electronics based out of its location in Farmington Hills, MI.

     

    Job Duties: Perform interconnection robustness analysis and testing for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) across all product lines and regions within Division U. Enhance PCBA robustness to prevent unexpected failures during product validation and field operations. Support lean development initiatives, the Solder Joint Digital Twin strategy, and spearhead technology projects for new PCB and ECU packaging and materials. Conduct electro-mechanical and PCBA robustness analyses using tools such as Ansys Sherlock, Ansys Mechanical, Ansys SpaceClaim, Ansys LS-DYNA, Ansys Fluent, Ansys RBF Morph, and Ansys optiSLang. Develop and implement strategies to enhance PCBA robustness, including lean development and Solder Joint Digital Twin strategies. Lead technology projects for new PCB and ECU product development, including packaging and materials technologies. Report analysis findings and provide recommendations for performance improvements to internal customers (ZF Division U Product Lines) and external partners. Coordinate qualification testing of new technologies and support the Manufacturing Technology roadmap in alignment with core and customer application development programs. Develop and implement relevant documentation, including qualification requirements, engineering standards, and process documents, globally across Global Electronics. Collaborate with cross-functional departments (Global Manufacturing Technology, PCB Technology, Component Engineering, Benchmarking, AME, and Manufacturing Engineering) to identify, develop, and implement manufacturing technology solutions. Provide day-to-day technical support to product teams, addressing issues related to reliability, electromechanical simulation, and PCB assembly. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available.

     

    Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years as design engineer, including expertise in electronics reliability, thermal, and thermos-mechanical analysis within the automotive industry and demonstrated experience with: Printed Circuit Board (PCB) testing assembly interconnections; Electronics reliability, thermal, and thermo-mechanical analysis in automotive domain; Electronics reliability analysis and thermo-mechanical simulation; Thermal and reliability analysis on electronic components and assemblies; PCB stack up, laminates, PCB materials, glass transition temperature, and Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE); Simulation and virtual prototyping software, including as Ansys Sherlock, Ansys Mechanical, Ansys SpaceClaim, Ansys LS-DYNA, Ansys Fluent, Ansys RBF Morph, OR Ansys optiSLang.
