Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Day-to-Day Responsibilities:** The Shipping Supervisor On Shift Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ A champion for safety and quality - walks the talk - leads and facilitates the team to world class, day-to-day, safety and quality performance
+ Provides supervision to a team of Production Associates/Technicians responsible for the manufacture of optical fiber
+ Team includes on-shift personnel from the following areas: Shipping/Warehouse and Material Handling/Stores
+ Owns ware flow management, maintains accountability to shift targets and reporting
+ Lead daily shift turnovers and huddles
+ Tracking of performance during shift (includes RPH, counts)
+ Owns prioritization and balancing of production targets and MET troubleshooting activities
+ Owns coordination of people to meet production requirements
+ Serves as shift IWS (Invar) SME, managing inventory system to achieve production targets and following escalation protocol for Invar system issues.
+ Coordinating off hours Storeroom transfers w/ WL, suppliers as necessary
+ Owns weekly shift staffing plan, coordination of overtime scheduling
+ Understands established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
+ Ensure team executes documented standard operating procedures and follows established document control protocols.
+ Holds team to high housekeeping and 6S expectations
+ Coaches strong shift performance and strong shift-to-shift hand off.
+ Provides real time feedback to teams and individuals
+ Coordinated daily activities with team and support organizations (ex. SMET/Eng TS, DT, Experiments)
+ Partners with Shipping Supervisor to lead PEx and Team Meetings.
+ Coordinates team events
+ iKaizen resource for the team, assist team members in kaizen generation and implementation.
+ Removes roadblocks for the team and communicates additional support needed to leadership
+ Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures; ensures awareness and compliance to changes.
+ Work with Shipping supervisor to deliver any necessary accountability/performance improvement discussions.
+ Develops and executes team training plan including new hire and adder positions.
+ Ensures completion of certification/recertification.
+ Prepares and provides reports to supervisory chain as necessary
+ Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)
**Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Required Skills** :
+ Must be certified in your current department
+ No attendance issue or active Discipline
+ 2+ years of manufacturing experience
+ 1+ year prior leadership experience
+ Experience utilizing KPIs, KPOVs and math skills, to track and influence personal or team performance in the workplace
+ Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule (Dupont) which will include nights and weekends, with overtime required as needed.
+ Additonal hours required to ensure smooth handoff between incoming/outgoing shifts, as well as receive training.
+ Must achieve/maintain certification as SC Shift Supervisor Assistant on shift.
+ Must be prepared to assist w/ daily operations
+ Ability to be Forklift certified, Box truck certified
+ Proficiency with MS Office programs (Excel, PowerBi, Word, Outlook, Teams, Powerpoint)
+ Demonstrates the following: Strong verbal and written communication skills, Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
+ Positive attitude and engages in positive employee relations
+ Strong decision making and prioritization.
+ Ability to prioritize responsibilities while working in an irregular work environment with changing priorities and multiple tasks.
+ Strong peer-to-peer accountability with fair and consistent application of policies and procedures
+ Strong conflict resolution skills
+ Must have the ability to function independently with minimal supervision and with strong attention to detail and follow up/completion of assigned action items
Desired Skills:
+ Degree in a technical field OR relevant years of experience in manufacturing supervisory role
+ Project management

The range for this position is $29.25 hourly rate - $32.50 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
