    About this role:

    Wells Fargo is seeking a Mortgage Securities Trader to support Capital Markets – Secondary Marketing and Portfolio Management activities, within Home Lending, as a part of Consumer Lending. The Mortgage Securities Trader will purchase and sell mortgage whole loans on behalf of Wells Fargo Home Lending to achieve strategic objectives. This role will also be responsible for other activities in the trading process, such as loan pooling, trade analytics, and trade settlement. The Mortgage Securities Trader will also need to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for the purpose of having successful trading outcomes.     In this role, you will:

    + Make markets or hedge trades

    + Participate in less complex transactions independently within their assigned product and securities

    + Review and research trading strategies and market characteristics and exercise independent judgment to guide trading

    + Present recommendations for trading strategies and market characteristics and exercise independent judgment while developing expertise within their assigned product and securities

    + Collaborate and consult with more experienced staff

    + Actively participate in activities related to the sale and purchase of mortgage whole loans which include trade evaluation, auctions, settlement, collaborating with various teams such as Transaction Managers, Legal, Finance/Accounting, Due Diligence, Collateral Management, and Portfolio Management. The role will be responsible for deciding the sale or purchase population, trading with external counterparties and ensuring timely settlement of loan populations.

    + Responsible for identifying loans to be included/excluded for various whole loan purchases or sales based upon loan data and strategic intent. This is a function that will lead to trading activity.

    + Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights and follow-up actions regarding loans to be purchased or sold in the Secondary Markets. This will include creating trade economic schedules so Sr. Leaders and can understand the impacts to the balance sheet and income statement as a result of the potential trade.

    + Responsible for procedure updates, control documentation, change control requests and any Audit requests

    + Process trade tickets and other trade related documentation

    + Work with peers, risk, compliance, and managers to meet firm deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of trading, risk, compliance, and operations

    Required Qualifications:

    + 2+ years of Mortgage Securities Trading experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

    Desired Qualifications:

    + 2+ years of experience in Mortgage Capital Markets. Basic knowledge of Mortgage Secondary Market

    + A BS/BA degree or higher in business, finance, or economics

    + Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills

    + Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

    + Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

    + Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills

    + Demonstrated ability to work independently, is well organized and a self-starter, embraces being accountable for work output and timeliness

    + Experience in conducting and understanding due diligence reviews related to residential mortgage whole loans used to determine their acquisition eligibility

    + Experience in determining the valuation of mortgage loans and mortgage-backed securities

    + Experience in managing legal, regulatory compliance, operational and reputational risks related to residential mortgage loans

    Job Expectations:

    + This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

    + This position requires compliance with all mortgages regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo's compliance policies related to these requirements including acceptable background check investigation results. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and required reporting of certain incidents.

    + Department hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00amCST-5:00pmCST

    + This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
