Salary: $69,000 – $80,000
Anticipated Contract Length: 3.5 years with potential for extensions.
US Citizenship Required 100% Onsite - No Telework Project Overview: Craig Technologies is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Craig Technologies & Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Craig Technologies’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program. A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Craig Technologies has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. We use our expertise to help our customers securely and effectively transform mission delivery. Job Summary: In this role, you will participate in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of civil/structural components and processes. You will assist with preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, models, calculations, material requisitions, studies, reports, presentations, and proposals. Your assistance will contribute to civil/structural designs that meet project requirements. In this role as Structural Engineer, you will support the structural design for the project. This will entail originating structural calculations, specifications, material requisitions, and technical studies or reports. Additionally, checking of design drawings and review and coordination of vendor information. Work with other Structural engineers and technical disciplines in a team environment.
Major Responsibilities: Level I: Participates in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes Prepares or participates in preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations, civil drawings, steel and concrete calculations, and material requisitions Checks manufacturers’ drawings and data for compliance with specification and design drawings Designs or participates in design for minor structures and portions of buildings Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines Coordinates development and presentation of material when requested Assists in constructability reviews
Level II: Plans civil/structural layout, prepares detailed civil/structural design and layout drawings for small structures, portions of major buildings, roadways, railroads, etc. Ensures designs are compliant with local and national regulations before and during construction Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements Originates structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions Prepares building material interface details for review by senior personnel Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements Prepares civil/structural designs and construction drawings using 2-D / 3-D computer aided design (CAD), presentation graphics and civil models and codes Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering Originates structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions Prepares specifications and related documents Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations Provides direct support to other engineering disciplines for Structural related matters Reviews structural drawings and design details Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines Assists in preparation of quantity takeoffs Assists in constructability reviews Education and Experience Requirements: Level I: University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Level II: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills: Level I: Career development position within field Continues to learn and apply professional concepts Applies company policies & procedures to resolve mostly routine issues
Level II: Career development within field Developing professional expertise, applies company policies & procedures to resolve a variety of issues US citizenship is required per contract requirement Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Experience with Microsoft office programs, and other common computer programs Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) Working knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, IBC and ASCE 7 Broad knowledge of the application of Structural engineering design principles. Previous experience using structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD.Pro Possess active security clearance Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Civil or Structural Engineering) Master’s degree in Structural or related Engineering, from an accredited university Experience executing engineering and design with Tekla software Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact
The salary range for this role is $69,000 – $80,000; however, Craig Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
