Entry-Level Staff Accountant | Houston, TX

An established Oil & Gas company is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their growing team. Great opportunity for recent grads to build hands-on experience in accounting operations and month-end close.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing and posting month-end close entries, including accruals, to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Reconcile general ledger and subledger accounts to maintain data integrity and resolve discrepancies.

• Contribute to the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements to support decision-making processes.

• Oversee inventory-related tasks, such as reconciliations and conducting periodic audits.

• Collaborate with the accounting team to identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

• Participate in special accounting projects and provide support as needed.

• Maintain accurate records for accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) processes.

• Perform bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between company records and financial institutions.

• Assist with the annual physical inventory and asset inventory processes.

Requirements

Staff Accountant Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

• 0-2 years of experience in financial accounting, including internships or relevant coursework.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other accounting software tools.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
