    Robert Half Finance & Accounting (Smith County, TX)


    Description

    Position Overview:

    We’re seeking a strategic finance leader to oversee our accounting and payroll operations, ensure financial integrity, and deliver actionable insights that drive the firm forward. This role also supports key HR functions, helping to foster a strong, people-first culture.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Manage all core accounting functions, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory.

    + Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes; prepare accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements.

    + Maintain strong internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.

    + Deliver timely financial reports and variance analyses to guide leadership decisions.

    + Oversee banking relationships and online banking activities.

    + Lead budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with firm leadership.

    + Coordinate external audits and ensure readiness.

    + Hire, mentor, and develop accounting team members; promote a culture of continuous improvement.

    + Maintain up-to-date accounting policies and procedures.

    + Ensure compliance with tax regulations and manage filings in coordination with external partners.

    + Improve accounting processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.

    + Support HR operations including hiring, onboarding, benefits, PTO, and insurance administration.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s a plus); CPA strongly preferred.

    + 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role; legal industry experience a plus.

    + Expertise in US GAAP and financial reporting.

    + Strong leadership and team-building skills.

    + Advanced Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).

    + Familiarity with payroll platforms (e.g., Paychex, ADP, Paycor).

    + Exposure to HR or office management functions.
