Description We are looking for a skilled Legal Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will support the preparation and formatting of legal briefs, ensuring they meet high standards of accuracy and deadlines. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to important legal proceedings.

Responsibilities:

• Format complex legal briefs according to provided instructions, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

• Create and organize a comprehensive table of contents and table of authorities within Microsoft Word.

• Utilize advanced Microsoft Word features to code headings and automate page numbering.

• Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work.

• Apply your experience with appellate-level litigation to assist in preparing long-form legal documents.

• Ensure compliance with legal formatting standards and guidelines.

• Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.

• Provide technical expertise in handling lengthy briefs and related documentation.

• Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness.

• Adapt quickly to the demands of a dynamic and fast-paced legal environment. Requirements • Proven experience formatting legal briefs, particularly at the appellate level.

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Word’s table of contents and table of authorities features.

• Strong familiarity with litigation processes and terminology.

• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Prior experience handling lengthy and complex legal documents.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with legal teams.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
