Our client, a growing NP in DC is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in operational accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes. The successful candidate will bring expertise in managing month-end close activities, reconciliations and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and ensuring timely completion.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and balance sheets to maintain financial accuracy.

• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

• Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, including monitoring transactions and resolving discrepancies.

• Utilize accounting software such as Yardi, NetSuite, Costpoint, and QuickBooks to streamline financial processes.

• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance accounting workflows and address operational challenges.

• Maintain and improve financial controls to ensure the integrity of accounting data.

• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making.

• Train and mentor less experienced accounting staff as needed to foster a collaborative work environment.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a BS in Accounting, 3+ years of general ledger experience with strong reconciliation skills, US GAAP, detail oriented and excellent communication skills. This role is 3 days/week in the office in DC and comes with a comp range of 90-119K + bonus and full benefits. Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in real estate, non-profit, or government contracting industries.

• Strong proficiency in accounting software, including Yardi, NetSuite, Costpoint, and QuickBooks.

• Advanced knowledge of month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

• Familiarity with financial statement preparation and compliance standards.

• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with formulas and analyze data.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
