Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Commercial Real Estate Underwriter to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, risk assessment, and real estate valuation. As a Commercial Real Estate Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating and underwriting commercial real estate loans to ensure they meet our company's risk tolerance and underwriting standards.

Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of potential commercial real estate transactions including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections.

Risk Assessment: Evaluate the creditworthiness of borrowers and the risk associated with each commercial real estate loan application.

Real Estate Valuation: Analyze property appraisals, market trends, and comparable property sales to assess the value and potential risks associated with the underlying collateral.

Underwriting Standards: Ensure that all commercial real estate loans adhere to the company's underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Due Diligence: Perform thorough due diligence on borrowers, properties, and market conditions to identify potential risks and mitigants.

Presentation and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive underwriting packages including credit memos, risk assessments, and loan recommendations for presentation to senior management or credit committees.

Collaboration: Work closely with loan officers, credit analysts, and other stakeholders to gather information, resolve issues, and facilitate the underwriting process.

Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Portfolio Management: Monitor and review existing commercial real estate loans to assess ongoing credit risk and performance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, economics, or a related field.

Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CCIM) preferred.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, lending, or related field.

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and real estate valuation techniques.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform thorough due diligence.

Solid understanding of commercial real estate market dynamics, property types, and underwriting principles.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Demonstrated commitment to integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
